Rosemary Frances Mahoney

Rosemary Francis Mace Mahoney

Rosemary was born on January 30, 1930 in Washington DC. Rosemary was the second of four children born to Mary Ellen and Frank Alonzo Jacobs. While living in Washington DC she met and married William C. Bud Mace Jr. in 1954. After they were married they moved to Sunnyside, WA and then to Ellensburg, WA where they lived in Vetvill while Bud attended school. They had 4 children together. After 20 year, of marriage they divorced.

While her children were growing up Rosemary was involved with PTA and Camp Fire Girls as a group leader, day camp counselor, and board member. She went on many camp-outs with the Camp Fire Girls and thought of all of the girls as her own. It wasn't unusual to see her driving a car full of girls to a Camp Fire function. Her house was a gathering place with kids coming and going. In November 1976 Rosemary married the love of her life John "Jack" Mahoney. She welcomed into their family his 5 children. Rosemary and Jack loved to bowl, golf and had many good times traveling with the Moose. Rosemary was an office manager for the YMCA and then for Roy's Chuckwagon and Roy's Western Smorgy.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her mother, father, her sister Gloria Eakin; brothers William F. Jacobs and Donald T. Jacobs.

Rosemary was survived by her husband John "Jack" Mahoney, Richland, WA; sons Clark Mace; Matt Mahoney Kamie, W. Richland, WA; John J. Mahoney Jr. Josie, Bellevue, WA; daughters Mary Post David, Pasco, WA; Donna Magruder Bill, W. Richland, WA; Sarah Mace Doug, Woodinville, WA; Jackie Boyd Bobby, Spokane, WA; Colleen Miller Ken, W. • Jack and Family, I had the honor of meeting Rosemary through the Moose. I have met hundreds this way, but Rosemary was special. She made me feel welcome back in 1994 when I first met her. She sat down and truly got to know me back when I was a young idiot, and hung with me as I became a middle-aged idiot. I always looked forward to conventions so I could sit down and talk more with her and enjoy her company. I am sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace.

  • When I was home in 2007 for a high school reunion my wife and I stopped by and visited with your mom and Jack for quite a while. Jack even gave us a ride back to the hotel thanks Jack!. Sure glad we saw her. Man, a lot of memories of her and Clark, Mary, Donna and Sarah…next door neighbors till I was 21.

    My condolences. Mike

  • My sister, Donna, just sent me the news of Rosemary passing. Such sad news. I saw Jack and Rosemary at Atomic Ale a few months ago and had a nice visit. So many memories at the Mace/Mahoney house. Rosemary was always full of smiles, great stories and a house full of food! She will surely be missed. So sorry for your loss. Wish I had known earlier so I could attend her service. She will have a special spot in my heart.
