Mary Ann LeBlanc Lucas

Mary Ann LeBlanc Lucas was born March 18, 1937 in Erath, LA to O.J. and Anita LeBlanc.  She passed away peacefully at Hospice House in Kennewick, WA on November 26, 2022 with her children by her side.  Mary was the second of six children.  While still a young child, Mary’s parents moved to Port Arthur, TX where she grew up.  Mary married Roy Cole Sr. in 1955.  They were stationed in Fairbanks, AK before they returned to Port Arthur, TX.  They had three sons before divorcing in 1966.  As a single mother of three young boys, Mary worked retail at the Fair Store in Beaumont, TX.

Mary was introduced to Charles Lucas by mutual friends and they married on February 15, 1968 in Orange, TX.  Mary and Charles had one daughter together.  They relocated to Newark, DE.  While in Newark Mary attended night classes and obtained her high school diploma.  She enjoyed working for Home Interiors & Gifts.  After several years they were transferred to Chicago, IL.  While in Chicago, Mary worked for Sears.

Two years later, Charles and Mary were transferred to Garland, Texas where they lived until 2012.  Mary worked for Barclays American (now Citigroup) until her retirement in 2006.  Mary moved to Kennewick, WA in 2012 to be closer to her sons.

Mary enjoyed traveling to Melbourne, Australia to visit her daughter, Cathy.  She also enjoyed cooking and baking, arts and crafts, and gardening.  Mary especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lucas; her parents; her brothers Ravis and Larry LeBlanc; and her stepdaughter, Nancy Lucas.  She is survived by sons Roy (Barbara) Cole of Kennewick, WA, David (Mary) Cole of West Richland, WA, and Stuart Cole of Richland, WA, and daughter Cathy Lucas of Melbourne, Australia; stepson Tim (Carolyn) Lucas of Beaumont, TX; brother Donald (Betsy) LeBlanc of Newton, TX; sisters Winnie (Ronald) Broussard of Bridge City, TX and Debbie (Mike) Everett of San Antonio, TX; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Mary’s family would like to thank the team at Tri Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House for their compassionate care of their mother.  A funeral service will be held at Einan’s in Richland at noon on Monday, Dec. 5, 2022 (viewing at 10 AM) and graveside service (with reception following) on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022 at Einan’s Sunset Memorial Gardens.
