Michelle R. Morrison

Michelle R. Morrison, Beloved Sister, Friend, Die-hard Coug, and Procurement Queen

Our beloved sister, sister-in-law, daughter, cousin, aunt, and colleague Michelle, a social butterfly loved by all she met, passed suddenly and too soon on April 27, 2016.

Michelle was born on August 11th, 1971 in Richland, WA, the fourth of five children born to Von R. Morrison, Sr. and Dorothy Morrison.  As a child, she was a bookworm, played lots of softball, and was a great student; her playful jokes were a source of laughter.  Michelle created amazing friendships in childhood and high school that lasted a lifetime, and considered her friends her family.

Michelle graduated from WSU in 1996, and she was a HUGE Cougar fan.  She went to get her masters in H.R. Management from the University of Phoenix in 2008, and considered it a great accomplishment.  She worked in the workers’ compensation industry for over twenty years, becoming a Senior Claims Analyst, and loved her work and enjoyed her colleagues immensely.  She used her talent and intelligence as a force for change at the White Center Food Bank, vowing to help those less fortunate with her volunteer work as Board Secretary.  She held her title of Auction Procurement Queen with joy and satisfaction.

For Michelle, family and friends were everything.  She adored her nieces and nephews, and always encouraged them reach for the stars.  There was nothing she wouldn’t do for a friend.  Where ever she went, no matter what personal challenges she was facing, she had an electric smile that dazzled everyone she met.  She was a strong, powerful woman with passionate beliefs, but she held those beliefs without judgement of others, and she was forgiving and filled with kindness.  She was a Christian with faith in God.

Michelle was a fantastic cook, and loved being in the kitchen making feasts to share.  She was an animal lover who adored her dog Rubee, and missed her dog Corona who preceeded her in death.

Shortly before her death, Michelle wrote a note to her beloved sister Shawna, saying “I do not know what I would do without my sis.  She has been such a support and advocate!  I hope everyone is fortunate to have someone in their lives like my sis.”  Michelle & Shawna were inseparable best friends who shared a home, friends, volunteer work, laughter and tears.  Standing up for Shawna as maid of honor at Shawna and Sebastian’s wedding was one of the great joys of Michelle’s life.

Michelle is survived by her parents…….

Services will be held at Seattle Unity Church on May 14 at 2pm, and at Events at Sunset in Richland, WA on May 28th at 2pm.  All who loved her are welcome to attend either service.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the White Center Food Bank.
