Alfred H. Stolte was born to Henry and Emma Stolte on July 27, 1930 in Gifford, ID. He graduated from Gifford High School and later graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelor in Arts in Education and then received a Masters of Education from Oregon State University. Alfred served in the Army Security Agency during the Korean Conflict.

He was a teacher and a counselor from 1955-1987 for the Richland and Sumner School Districts. After retiring from that role he substituted in the Kennewick School District for eight years.

Alfred was a member of the Richland Lutheran Church where he served on numerous committees.


He is survived by his best friend and spouse, Alvhild “Ollie” of 57 years; son, Eric (Michelle) and their children: Gretchen, Gregory and Garrett; son, Mark and his sons: Jared and Ryan; daughter, Jenae Knapp (Frank) and their daughters, Hannah and Emma; daughter, Janet Gates (Brad) and their sons: Trenton, Evan and daughter, Haley. Alfred is also survived by his brother, Walter (Dorothy); brother-in-law, Hal Lewis; sister-in-law, Teddy Romtvedt; sisters, Matilda Haneke, Ella Mueller, Henrietta Brooks (Dick); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; Henry and Emma Stolte; brother, Gerhart and his sister, Martha.

The family invites you to a Memorial Service at Richland Lutheran Church in Richland on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1:30pm with a reception to follow. An Inurnment Service will be held at Good Hope Lutheran Church in Lenore, ID on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 11:00am.
