Doris Orlean Clark

Doris Orlean (Moore) Clark, a longtime former resident of Benton City, WA passed away on January 16, 2016. She was living at the Tri-City Retirement Inn in Pasco, WA when she died of natural causes at age 94.

Doris was born November 19, 1921 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the only child of Margaret Isabel Moore (Hatfield) and Andrew Wesley Moore.

During her life Doris moved more than two dozen times while growing up, led by her father who was a laborer looking for work.

Doris met Earl E. Clark in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. She was delighted to have him walk her home from church on Sunday evenings. They were married February 1, 1940 in Bristow, Oklahoma.

After marriage Doris and Earl moved to Stillwater, OK where Earl attended Oklahoma A&M. They moved to Muskogee after leaving school for lack of funds. They worked for Glencliff Dairy and managed a malt shop, and were later offered the chance to manage a Glencliff store in Tulsa.

Earl and Doris moved to Richland in 1943 after Earl took a job at Hanford. They rented a home on Goethels Drive, and in 1953 moved to a small farm on Whan Road in Benton City, Washington.

Doris helped the four boys do their chores on the farm, milking, bringing in hay, plowing, and feeding animals. She also faithfully attended all the sports and entertainment activities of her children. She enjoyed watching them perform and encouraged them to excel.

Doris was an active member of the Highland Ladies Club, and the First United Methodist Church in Benton City. She was full of faith and loved to praise God by singing hymns with the choir.

Doris is survived by her four sons and their wives: Earl Everett and Nancy of Pasco, WA, Jimmie Lee and Carol of Rough n Ready CA, Kenneth W. and Teresa of Moscow, ID, and Donald K. and Dianna of Richland, WA.

She also leaves 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild who will miss their happy, affectionate Grandma Clark.

Family and friends are kindly invited to a memorial service at Einan’s Sunset Event Center, 915 Bypass Highway (State Road 240), Richland, WA on March 5, 2016 at 1:00. There will be a reception immediately following the service in the same facility.
