Gerald Peter Joseph Metzger, 82, of Benton City, WA passed away May 14, 2016 in Kennewick, WA. He was born in Mount Carmel, ND on July 16, 1933.

Jerry joined the Navy and moved his family to California. During his service with the Navy and being a Seabee for 24 years he had fought in the Korean War and  accomplished many roles before retiring; Post Commander, Chef de Gare, holding office in the 40 et 8.

Jerry was involved in coaching Little League which was a good thing because he was competitive. He loved playing golf, singing and bowling; he even opened a bar! Among his loves, he also had a love for his dogs; Jerry would say, “I’m part dog.”

He is survived by his children, Shirley Ann Metzger, Cathy Huston, Montgomery Metzger, Sandy Nicholson, Daniel Metzger and daughter-in-law Gerri; grandchildren: Doug, Kellie, Peter, Johnny, Sheryl, Chris, Shelley, Michael, Matt, Shawn, Donald, and Pattie. Jerry is also survived by his nephews: Ritchie, Bing, Randy and Patrick and niece Geraldine.

He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Metzger; his parents; his sisters; and his brothers.

Visitation with a Rosary will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 7:30pm-9:00pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kennewick. The Mass will be held Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 1:00pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kennewick, followed by the Graveside service at 3:00pm at Sunset Gardens in Richland, WA.

The family would like to invite you to reception to the American Legion in Pasco, WA.
