  • I will never forget the look on Don’s face the day he walked his daughter, Karla, down the aisle on her wedding day. The joyful admiration in his eyes was clear….he was blissfully happy that day. He truly loved his little girl. That genuine smile was matched only by the snapshots I’ve seen of Don and his son, Don Jr, after a day of riding dirt bikes together. That camaraderie between father and son doing something together they both loved came through in every picture. Don would be so proud and honored at the partnership that Don Jr. and Karla, together with their families, shared in caring for him, protecting him and loving him unconditionally until he made his way home. Know that he is now in a place that only the most beautiful dreams are made of. If you thought Don could fly on a motorcycle…..just wait till you see him in wings!!

  • Don was my longest and best friend and I will miss his humor and company for the remainder of my life. He was always there for me and we enjoyed many adventures riding motorcycles on the highways and trails of western USA. There were many times where our engineering ideas were 180 degrees apart but they always ended up in laughter and good fun. My only regret for Don is that he never had an opportunity to retire and take life a little easier and fulfill many of his retirement dreams. So long good buddy, we will meet up again down the road I’m sure.

  • Dear Folks,
So sorry for your lost. Donald was a hard worker in school and a really tough athletic. Don’t remember exactly how much he weighs in high school, but he was smaller than a lot of the guys on the team. He wasn’t afraid to take on anyone on the football field. I’m sure he will be sadly missed by all.
    Sincerely, Chuck

  • It’s with great sadness that all of us that knew Donald have lost a genuine friend. He and I were inseparable during our early years growing up on Upland Road in Blacksburg, VA and I will cherish those fond memories for ever. Donald’s mother Alice was a second mother to me and was our Cub Scout Den mother – what a sweet lady. I had the privilege of talking with Donald several times as he bravely fought to win his battle and I am so thankful for those precious minutes. Even thought we lived on opposite sides of the county for many years, my brotherly love for Donald never waned. May he now rest in peace.
My thoughts and prayers are with Donald’s family during this trying time and I am here to help in any way I may.
