Jerry L. Shook

Jerry L. Shook passed away June 21st, 2017 in Kennewick, WA.  He was born April 29, 1946 in Forest Grove, OR. and moved to Richland as an infant.  He had a love for horses at a very early age and continued his family legacy of training and riding cutting horses.  At age 19 he was given the great honor of working with Buster Smith, a world champion horse trainer.  Buster had never trained a young man before. In 1977, he began his career at Hanford.  He worked for Rockwell and the successor companies as a bus driver and heavy-duty truck driver until his retirement in 2008. His hobbies included golfing with his work friends, plus hunting and fishing with friends and family. Jerry had a good sense of humor and enjoyed playing jokes on the grandchildren which he loved very much.  He is survived by his spouse of 36 years, Elizabeth of Kennewick, son Casey of Phoenix, daughter April of Kennewick, sister Nancy (John) Walsh of Pasco, and sister Donna Whittle of Midlothian, VA. and five grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his father, Manly Shook and mother, Bertina (Bea) Shook. A Celebration of Life Gathering for Jerry will be held at 11 a.m. August 26 at the Events at Sunset venue, 915 Bypass Hwy, Richland.
