Karen Irene Hill

Karen Irene Hill went to be with the Lord at her home on Saturday May 13, 2017. She was born on February 8, 1942 in Lincoln, Nebraska to her parents Dolores and C. Q. Tuttle. Her family moved to Yakima, Washington when she was 5 years old. Both of her parents have preceded her in death.

After graduation from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington in 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Hill, on August 21, 1964. Ken had just graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri where he had started a clothing business, so the newlyweds moved to Springfield. Their daughters, Kelli and Krysta, were both born in Springfield. In 1990 Ken and Karen moved back to their home town in Yakima, Washington. Later they moved to Richland, Washington.

Karen’s husband and mother both passed away in 2002 and her father passed away in 2006. Those were difficult years for her. Then four years ago she began her battle with cancer. However, true to her gentle, positive and peaceful nature, she endured all the treatments with grace and a sense of peace that passes all understanding.

Karen is survived by a daughter Kelli Best and husband Rev. Bill Best; daughter Krysta Barker and husband Rev. Mark Barker; three granddaughters Ashlee Best, Paige Best and Madison Barker. She is also survived by her brother Rev. Ron Tuttle and his wife Barbara and her sister Kathy Wardle and her husband Wayne.

She has a large host of friends in Yakima, Springfield, and Richland where she faithfully served in children and women’s ministries. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those who loved and dearly respected her.

You are invited to celebrate Karen’s life at a graveside service on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00am at Sunset Gardens in Richland.

  • I love Karen like a mother! She would look at me with her beautiful blue eyes and ask how I was really doing. I know she genuinely cared about those she came in contact with. And she made everyone feel loved and valued. The perfect mother!

  • Karen was such a witness for the love of God. Many times I would see her out and she always encouraged me and she knew I am going through a hard place and always cared about others. You would have never known what she was going through because she always had such a sweet positive attitude and such a strong faith in God and his word. My prayer is for her sweet daughters and her family that God will give them comfort right now.
