Raymond Glines, Sr.

Raymond Glines Sr. died peacefully in his sleep, Monday morning, November 6, 2017. Raymond was born January 28, 1934 in Eldorado, Kansas to Harvey and Mattie Glines. He was left motherless at the age of two weeks and was raised by a loving Aunt for the next two and a half years.  In 1936, his dad made the decision to bring Raymond, along with brothers Clifford and Jack and sisters Gertrude, Maxine and Louise to Washington.

He grew up in Finley.  He loved boating, hunting, fishing, playing bluegrass music on his harmonica with dear friends, Dale Denny, Tom Bundrant, Chuck and Betty Morgan and others. Most of all he loved his wife Yvonne and children Diane Derrick (Buddy), Raymond Jr. (Sharon), Celia Sakach (Steve) Peggy Glines. Grandchildren, Evan Derrick (Irina), Aaron Derrick, Jeri Diarra, Raymond Glines III (Briana), Rachel Gillespie, Jessica Gillespie, Lea Gonzalez (Jorge) Brooke Sakach, Jake Sakach, Audrey Thomas (Ben), Therin Taylor, Elaine Taylor.  Great grandchildren, Ezri, Lincoln, Hanna, Louann, Jadan, Ava, Joshua, Peyton, Daezy, and many beloved nieces and nephews  He is also survived by his loving sisters Gertrude Moe, Maxine Watson and Louise Ashby (Duane)  and sisters-in-law Hazel Glines, Eva Lee Glines, brother- in-law Jerry Menter (Shonnie).

He was preceded in death by parents, Mattie and Harvey Glines, brothers, Clifford and Jack.

Raymond went to work for Church's Grape Juice at the young age of 18. Church's sold out to Welch's after a few years.  Raymond worked there for the next 43 years. Never took day’s sick leave in all that time.  He worked hard and played hard.

He always had a soft spot in his heart for children so ask that in lieu of flowers you would consider donating to the children's charity of your choice.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday November 12 at 11:00, Events at Sunset with a light lunch for all mourners at 12:00 915 Bypass Highway, Richland, WA.

  • Uncle Ray would amaze me with his “No Fear” attitude. He made me laugh at such little things and when I was a kid, he pushed me past my limits. I love Welch’s grape Jelly to this day. It was so easy to be around Aunt Yvonne and Uncle Ray. I may not have been around him as much as others, but he left an impression in my heart that I will always remember with love and warmth. I love you Aunt Vonnie and to my cousins, you had a great father. Aunt Vonnie, you were an angel and a great comfort to Ray. Now you have one more angel looking over you. Love you all.

  • This man, my dad, was my hero before I knew what a hero was. I was allowed to accompany him on numerous hunting and fishing outings and my “colorful ” language may have been influenced by these special times. I have always had a special bond with my daddy and the memories have my heart full and my eyes overflowing. I love you dad. Always have….always will.

  • Uncle Ray has always been and always will be a very dear man in my life. He would joke wth you and laugh out loud and had a way of always making me feel I was a special niece. Uncle Ray & Aunt Yvonne have been like a second Dad & Mom to me and my brother and sisters. Their love has been unconditional and always open arms. Their love for each other has always been very visible and I for one hope Lary and I can enjoy that for as many years as they have. Uncle Ray walked me down the aisle on my wedding day and gave me away and for that I will always be grateful. Life will be a little empty without him in our world but he will always be in my heart and my memories of him will live on forever. Till we meet again, I love you.💕

  • Rod attended grade school with Ray and played sports with him. They knew each other since boyhood. Rod and Yvonne were classmates all through the 12 grades, and Christie went to school all through the grades with Carol. We grew up together. In recent years, we enjoyed visiting with Ray at our class reunions. He will truly be missed.
Our hearts and prayers are with Vonnie and her family.
    Love,
    Rod and Chris
