From West Richland, WA | Born in New Haven, CT

Merina Margaret Gilbride

Merina Margaret Gilbride departed this world in Richland WA, as the sun set on Oct. 29, 2017.  She left on her journey to sad farewells from some of the many who loved her, knowing that she would be joyfully greeted at journey’s end by those who preceded her.

She was the youngest child of Bernard and Merina (Adamson) Gilbride.  Born Feb. 24, 1948 in New Haven, CT. she lived a full and eventful life that saw her journey across the country with stops at the Sandia Pueblo and Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she earned her license as a Registered Nurse, then Richland WA where she gracefully and compassionately practiced nursing for over 35 years at Kadlec Medical Center.

Merina was a fun-loving, giving and compassionate woman who brightened the lives of all who met her.  The Lord tested her faith beginning early in life and continuing throughout, but she endured, keeping the candle lit throughout her journey.  He will have a special place for her at his table and a shining mansion filled with the love that she gave to all, as well as the bubbling laughter that only the Irish can provide.

Merina was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Evy and Ruth, brothers Bucky and Tom, and nephews Arnie and Chucky.  She is survived by her brother Dennis and sister-in-law Kathleen of East Lyme CT., a son William Gorman and grandchildren Haley and Billy of Guildford, CT., a daughter Merina  (Nina) Landsman and grandsons Kayden and Ashden Clifford of Basin City, WA., numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and her close friend for life Steven Landsman of Richland WA.

As she wished, she will be interred with her parents at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven, CT.

A  Memorial mass will be held at Christ the King Church in Richland, WA on Saturday November 18th, 2017 at 11am. A Celebration of Life will follow directly afterwards at the Horn Rapids Rv Resort Clubhouse.  All are welcome to attend.

Our family would like to ask that in lieu of flowers, donations in Merina’s memory to either Pet Over Population Prevention (POPP) or Meals on Wheels be donated, she volunteered for many years at both.
