Michelle Evans

On November 1st, Michelle Mary Evans passed away in Richland, Washington at the age of 61.  She was surrounded by loving friends and family in her final moments.

Michelle was born in Pasco, Washington on March 31, 1956.  Her parents, Tom McMillin and Jackie Westfahl, instilled core central values of hard work and leadership at an early age.  As the oldest of six children, it was important that Michelle set standard of success for the younger children.  She attended and graduated with honors from Kennewick High School.  She excelled scholastically in the classroom and athletically on her cheerleading team.  In 1974 she was elected homecoming queen.  Michelle was accepted, loved, and cherished by all those closest to her.

Michelle attended and graduated with honors from Washington State University.  She was active in her sorority Delta Gamma.  She utilized this time to pursue her goal of attaining an education certificate, traveling abroad to Europe, and developing her love for Washington State Cougar football.

After college Michelle moved back to the Tri-Cities and became a 5th grade teacher for the Kennewick School District.  She met and married Willie Evans Jr. in 1980.  They had a son in 1982, Tyler Evans. Together they lived and worked in the community they loved for many years.  They shared many holidays, vacations, and special times with loved ones.

Michelle lived and worked in Longview, WA, Redmond, WA, Albuquerque, NM, and Houston TX.  Each destination brought a new challenge which she thoroughly enjoyed.  She was strong and persistent in giving her all to those around her.

Michelle can best be remembered as a lover of all things pet related, primarily dogs! She loved and cared for Teddy and Buddy whom got preferential treatment at all times.  She was a lover of Luther Vandross songs and contemporary music.  She loved zips tartar sauce, cozy pajamas, and jelly beans no matter what time of the day.  Challenge if you dare her knowledge and problem solving skills during Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.  Being called to “Come on Down!” and play Plinko on the Price is Right was a secret wish of hers. These things never failed to bring a smile to her lips and a softness to her heart.

We will All miss you & All love you forever

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 2:00pm at Resthaven Cemetery in Richland, WA.

  • Michelle, (affectionately called “Michelley” by me) and I met at work around 1987. She said it was because I intentionally sought out to be her friend! And it was true! She was funny, smart and beautiful inside and out. I’ll always be thankful to her as she was responsible for introducing me to my husband Kelly Butz. She was my matron of honor. Michelley had more than her share of tragedy, pain and loss in her life but she would frequently say to me it wasn’t as bad as all the life threatening issues I faced and my family have overcome. I would then remind her that you can’t compare our situations. It is equally real and hard. I think it was her way of trying to find the sliver lining in her life. Rest in peace my friend. I love you always and will miss you.
