John William Corder
John passed away on January 13, 2007, at Avalon Health Care in Pasco, WA from complications of Parkinson's disease at the age of 90.
John was born to Jeff and Madge Corder on March 13, 1916, in Raytown, MO, east of Kansas City, the oldest of 5 brothers. John attended school in Raytown where he excelled in football, basketball, and track & field. As a youth he loved working on model projects and won several awards and even had one project displayed at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. After graduation from high school he worked as a bank teller and at Remington Arms Works. During this time he met and married his wife, Jeanne Elizabeth Shelby, in April 1940. In Oct 1944 he moved to Richland, WA, where he worked for Dupont at Hanford. He worked at Hanford as a machinist and then as a quality control inspector until he retired from Westinghouse in 1981.
As a young man he was known as quite a practical joker and enjoyed helping friends on projects. He continued his love of building model cars and airplanes which he pursued into his retirement with remote controlled airplanes. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids as they participated in ballet, sports, and other activities. He also enjoyed playing golf and playing with his dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeanne Elizabeth, and three kids: John Corder of Seattle, WA, Joe Corder Judith of Kennewick, WA, and Judy Fecht Karl of Richland, WA, along with six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and another due in April and a brother, Carl Corder of Charleston, SC.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and three brothers: Earle, Merle, and Bob.
The family would like to thank Guardian Angel Homes and Avalon for all the wonderful care he received while residing at these facilities.
A private family service and burial will be handled by Einan's Funeral Home.
It has been my pleasure to have known John for many years. We shared a lot of interesting and exciting experiences in our hobby of radio controlled model aircraft. He will certainly be missed by those of us who knew him personally.
I have known John’s son, John
for years and my condolences
are with him and the family.
He shares his father’s humor
and is wonderful to his friends, offering to help
whenever possible. God be
with you. Shirley

I was saddened to learn of Mr Corder’s passing and my feelings are with the family as their grieve their loss.
I knew Mr Corder though their son John who I’ve known for many years. We grew up living near each other in Richland WA but got to know each other in College and have been friends since. I remember visitng the Corder’s when they lived in Pennsylvania in the 70’s. They were always friendly and gracious hosts.
