From Richland, WA, USA | Born in Yakima, WA
Kathy Feaster-Alley
Kathy A. Feaster-Alley, 56, of Richland passed away unexpectedly at her home on February 20, 2014. She was born on April 9, 1957 in Yakima, WA and lived the majority of her life in Richland except for 15 years spent in Seattle. Kathy touched many lives and had a true passion for helping people. Oftentimes she could be found in her garden or in the kitchen with friends canning her famous hot pickles or brewing a fresh batch of salsa. Many family gatherings were organized by Kathy. She loved her work as an Education Specialist at Battelle and found great joy enriching the lives of the students she worked with. Kathy always put others before herself. Her family and friends meant the world to her and we can only hope to carry on the genuine compassion and heartfelt love that she showed to everyone she met.
Kathy is survived by her husband Greg, her daughter Katelyn Miguel, her father Ron Barb, brothers Scott Jean and Jim Donna, along with nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Donna Lou Feaster.
Kathy, you were always a delight with a wonderful outlook, may you rest in peace and watch over those you love from heaven.
Lovely lady with a great husband and family. Hard to lose great friends you grew up with. Very Sad. Hope Greg and the Feasters are hanging in there.
Greg and family,
Priscilla and I are very sad to hear of Kathy’s untimely passing. The Ham’s and the Feaster’s have known each other since we were kids up in the valley and growing up in Richland. She was the organizer and hub of the Feaster family. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Greg, I am so sorry to hear of Kathy’s passing. I mostly knew Kathy from high school. It seems like only yesterday. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Dear Greg and Family,
I was deeply saddened by the news of Kathy’s passing. My heart felt condolences to you and your family. Kathy and I were classmate and good friend years ago, but with Kathy it didn’t matter how much time had passed, she never forgot a friend. She will be missed.
Greg & Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family during this difficult time. May the memories of Kathy help you get through the road ahead.

Kathy was such a kind and gentle lady. I really enjoyed getting reacquainted with my former high school classmate while working closely with Kathy the past few years here at PNNL. Kathy was passionate about the student programs she oversaw and the students she placed with mentors throughout the Lab. Kathy really made a difference.
Dear Greg & Family, We are so very saddened to hear the news and our hearts and prayers go out to you all. Kathy was a remarkable woman and we are blessed to have been able to call her our friend. Our heartfelt condolences to you.
Dear Greg & Family, I am so sorry to hear of Kathy’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Kathy and I worked together all the time she has been at PNNL and I always found her helpful and talented. She had an obvious joy in her work and we will all miss her very much.
I came to know Kathy through her work with STEM and MESA. I always appreciated her kindness, her infectious laugh and her thoughtfulness. My thoughts and my prayers go out to her family. She talked of you often.
Kathy’s Family, I only knew Kathy for a short time, we met through PNNL work on STEM education. She was so easy to visit with and loved to chat about life. She showed me pictures of her daughter’s wedding with such pride. I am honored to have met her
My prayers and condolences to Kathy’s family. I was so privileged to work with Kathy. What a beautiful soul and her passion for her students was really special. We laughed how we were practically ‘related’ since her Dad and my Dad are friends and her nephews and my son are friends. I will miss her so much.
Dear Greg, Randy and I were so sad to hear of Kathy’s passing. Wish there were words to ease your pain but only time will heal. Know that we care and that you are in our prayers.
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Kathy’s passing. My family and the Feaster family grew up together. Even though I hadn’t talked to Kathy for some time, she called and offered comfort and support after my brother Dan Ham and my mother passed so close together. That really meant a lot to me and I’ll never forget it. She was a warm, compassionate person. She touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all of the Feaster family. So sorry for your loss.

I worked with Kathy on many projects at PNNL. She was instant sunshine on any work day. Kathy always went the extra mile to assist me in getting resources I needed or meetings set up to complete work. I saw her last autumn at Costco and we laughed about our good times with Battelle. It’s hard to believe I won’t bump into again.
Greg and Katie:
My thoughts are with you at this time. Kathy was one of the first people I met when I started at PNNL over 20 years ago. We shared a love of helping students, working in our gardens and cooking. I will miss her friendship and our conversations about life and work.

I worked with Kathy at Battelle in Seattle in the 80s and am so very sad to learn from a mutual friend of her passing. I’m flooded with many warm memories–all of which include Kathy’s brilliant smile, quick laugh, and heart of gold. We shared some very fun times–eating, laughing, camping, working, and celebrating. I know how much she loved her family because she talked about you guys all the time. A very special and radiant soul. My heart goes out to all who loved her well.
Boog and the Feaster Family,

Alley and Feaster Families,
We are shocked and saddened about losing Kathy so suddenly, and much too soon.
Kathy threw Greg and I a wedding shower in December 1976. It was our first Christmas together and Kathy gave us some of the most beautiful and unique Christmas ornaments; which I still have to this day. There hasn’t been a Christmas that I haven’t enjoyed hanging them on our tree.
I regret not telling Kathy these details when I saw her and Boog at Wild Horse last New Years. I wish I had told her how much I appreciated her thoughtfulness and how I’ve enjoyed those ornaments for the past 37 years. I will be proud to display them this coming Christmas and feel at peace knowing she’ll be looking down on us.
Prayers to you,
Cindy & Greg Vincent
I will miss your happy, ever positive personality that radiated so much energy.
Dear Katie and family,
So shocked to hear of your mom’s passing. What a wonderful person. She was so helpful and supportive when I was working with her at Battelle and just so much fun to be around. While I hadn’t seen her in a really long time, I did catch up with her for a quick visit at Karen Wieda’s retirement party. She will be very much missed by many.
I will remember all of you in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Mary
Greg & family,
I had the good fortune to work with Kathy a number of years at Battelle Seattle. Her laugh made others laugh! We were in our twenties and had a lot of fun after work at the Duchess Tavern solving the world’s problems over a cold beer.
She will be missed by everyone that was lucky enough to know her!
May the memories your family made together help you through this difficult time.
Thank you for the many shared behind-the-scenes giggles and positively productive moments shared in inciting learners of all ages to ride insights into their futures. Thanks for always offering others a hopeful hand up! You are the best, Kathy! May many others follow your “real people” example.
I got to know Kathy as a neighbor in the basement of the ROB building at PNNL. She was helpful, friendly, and a wonderful conversationalist. She is sorely missed by those of us whose lives she touched.
Kathy was an amazing person who had the sweetest and most gentle heart. We had so much fun canning together, while sharing family stories that either made us laugh or cry, to cranking up the tunes of our favorite records; singing in the kitchen. I miss my dear friend greatly. My sincere condolences go out to the family, especially Greg and Katie, whom she loved and adored with her whole being.
I am deeply sadden by Kathy’s sudden departure. I recall Kathy working her way up the ranks at the lab. During that time she was always helpful to us teachers and our students. She will always be missed!
Deepest sympathy on the passing of a wonderful woman. Another angel has gone home. May the many memories you made bring comfort during this difficult time. God bless you and grant you peace.
I met Kathy when we both worked at Battelle Seattle. She was fun-loving and a breath of fresh air. Kathy was friendly, very kind, helpful and always ready to have a good time. Kathy will always be an important part of my memories from the 80’s at BSRC. What a lovely memory she has given to me.
To Boog and the Feaster family,
A great lady that I have had the privilege of calling a friend for nearly fifty years. She touched many hearts. Keep her in yours.
Throughout the years, Kathy assisted me in bringing several summer intern students to PNNL. I was always amazed of Kathy’s genuine interest and passion for helping those kids. Always with a big smile, always willing to help; it was great to be around her. Kathy will be missed. May God be with you in this difficult moment.
Greg,
We are very sorry to hear about your loss. You and your family will always be in our prayers during this difficult time. I know that nothing can take away the pain that you are feeling right now, but I just want you to know you will always be in our thoughts.
