Virginia Irene Rudisill Oppelt

VIRGINIA IRENE RUDISILL OPPELT
Virginia Irene Rudisill Oppelt was born June 23, 1924 to Arthur and Opal Nordman Rockhold in Robinson, Kansas. She was the youngest of nine children. She passed away March 25, 2008 at Kadlec Medical Center.

She married Charles F. Rudisill in 1945. They lived in Fort Scott, Kansas, where they owned and managed apartment houses and a diner. In 1956 they moved to Price, Utah where he was a teacher. Virginia was very active in school, church, and community activities and the dinosaur museum in Price. Charles and Virginia owned and operated a Montgomery Wards store in Price. After his retirement, they moved back to Fort Scott, then to Hiawatha, Kansas before moving to Richland, Washington in 1975. Virginia worked at Battelle and retired in 1983. Charles passed away in 1991.

She married Jack Oppelt in 1994. They traveled and enjoyed going to dances all over the area. She remained active in the community and church. They resided at Hawthorne Court in Kennewick for several years where she participated in activities.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Charles, and all of her brothers and sisters.

Virginia is survived by her husband Jack, of Richland; daughter Roxann and Al Beal of Richland; son Charles Chuck and Linda Rudisill of Richland; granddaughters Nichole and Aaron McCreight of Richland, and Kelli and Eric Dunfee of Kennewick; 7 great-grandchildren; stepsons Charles Oppelt of Seattle, and Rodney Oppelt of Pasco; numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing and visitation will be Monday, March 31, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Einan’s Funeral Home, Richland.

Funeral will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Einan’s, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

  • Chuck, Linda and family,

    Janet and I want to express our deep regrets and sympathy for your loss. We both thought a great deal of your Mother. As we have spoken on the phone you kow that we are sure that it is acomfort to you to know that your Mother is finally at peace. If there is anything we can do from here please let us know. Thanks for your visit in November, it meant so much to both of us.
