Patrick Tolar

Patrick
(Rick) Charles Tolar, 60 of Pasco, WA peacefully entered heaven on Saturday,
January 12th. He was born in Spokane, WA on September 13th, 1958 to his parents
Frank A. and Ethel L. Tolar.

Patrick
spent his life as an avid outdoorsman. Fishing was his preferred past time, but
he would never turn down a good hunt. His love of the outdoors originated from
his stays with his grandfather Albert C. Lilley in Kimberly, B.C. Canada, who
taught him about the great outdoors and was also a renowned gardener.

Patrick’s
family moved to the Tri-Cities area while he was a small child and he decided
early on that Pasco would forever be his home. He married Ronica Wright in 1983
in his father’s backyard and their son Skye Lane Tolar was born on October
21st, 1989.

Patrick
was a proud union (U.A. 598) pipefitter/welder until his early retirement in
2013 from Areva in Richland, WA. He earned his associates degree in welding
technology from Columbia Basin College in 1980. His career took him all over
the world and he enjoyed recounting stories of his travels to friends and
family. He made many life-long friends in this occupation.

After
his retirement, Patrick dove head first into gardening. On any given day you
could find him exercising his horticulture abilities while being supervised by
his puppy, Hocktan. With the help of his greenhouse he kept beautiful flowers
year round. His pride in his plants was only surpassed the pride he felt for
his son and grandchildren. Patrick focused his retirement on living life to the
fullest. He ensured his family and friends knew how loved they were and in turn
was showered with love. He was known for his generosity, always willing to help
out. Rick was able to make peace with the important people in his life. In the
last 5 years Patrick accomplished more than most do in a lifetime.

Patrick
is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ethel, a handsome cat named
Chuck, and his favorite black lab Maggie. He is survived by his beloved son
Skye Tolar (Alyssa), his precious grandchildren Malachi and Evelyn (who he
insisted on calling Patty); by his siblings, Gary (Cheryl), Randy, and Lori
(Jack), nieces and nephews, Amanda, Kim, Nicole, Ryan, Shay and Waylon, and his
Fur-children, Hocktan and Patrick.

There
will be a celebration of life for Patrick at Einan’s Sunset Garden Event Center
on Sunday, January 20th at 2pm, reception to follow immediately after.

In
lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Tri-Cities Cancer
Center 7350 W. Deschutes Ave, Kennewick, WA 99336 or Cold War Patriots P.O. Box
18916 Denver, Colorado 80218-0916.
