Our mother, Võ Thị Kim Ngọc (Laura) Buddhist name Tâm Diệu Hạnh, peacefully passed away on the 6/26/2021 with her family at her bedside. She is survived by her two sons, son in-law, daughter in-saw, grandson, three sisters and two brothers. With our hearts broken, we find comfort that she is in a better place. May Buddha bless her soul.
Our mom was an unconditionally loving and devoted mother who lived with her dignity to raise her children to achieve their full potential. She was a respectful daughter to her parents, a loyal sister to her siblings and the kindest person to everyone. She taught us what love and dignity were, sympathy for others who were less fortunate. She was a single mother who worked tirelessly to play both roles of a mother and a father. She was beautiful, elegant and graceful. She will be missed immensely by our family and friends.

10:30am: First prayer (Sư thầy Minh Đức, sons, in-laws, grandchild, uncles, aunts, cousins)
11:30am: Public viewing (all friends and family)
12:30pm: Short speech from Danny
12:35pm: Last prayer and sending mom to heaven
12:50pm: Cremation witnessing (30 min)
Also if you do not want to witness the cremation process, you are invited to head to the event center nearby ahead of time for a buffet luncheon. We hope to see everyone at the luncheon so that we have a chance to say thank you.

Danny, I wish you peace as you grieve the loss of your mother. You are an amazing person and that speaks to how great your mother is. I can’t wait to share a drink and hear some stories about her.
I am a colleague of Danny’s at City College of San Francisco and have enjoyed his many stories about Laura, some of them fun and humorous, some of them incredibly epic, and all of them told with love and awe. I can see from her smile in the photograph that she has Danny’s same upbeat spirit. My deepest condolences to you and your family, Danny. Your CCSF family is with you even in these remote times.

I knew your dear sweet mother as Andy’s mother. In fact now, I asked Dung and her name is Laura. She was always so kind and sweet to me. I know she must have worked very hard to raise her two sons who have turned out so well. I was sadden to hear of her illness and am relieved to know that she is now at peace and out of the pain that she had to live with for so long. I pray that you and Danny are able to go on with your lives caring with you the kindness that she has taught you that she has lived with all of her life. May you continue to pass on her love to your son so that she will always be a part of his life as well.
Grief is one measure of a loved one’s impact on our lives when they are no longer with us. Danny and Family, you have my sincerest of condolences.
Danny, all of our love. I know your Mom spent a lot of years as the center of your world, giving the love of both parents and I know you cared for her with your whole self too. I got to know Laura as Danny’s beloved mom. One day, I visited Danny’s Math 110C Calculus 3 class, Danny told me that the coat that I was wearing was the same one that he bought for mom as a gift. What a sweet gift 🎁. Also, Laura and Danny do have good taste in coats :-).
Our dear aunt (Kim/co Ba – as we often called her) has been very close to us. She is a kind, genuine, and funny aunt. We have great memories about her and we will hold them near and dear in our hearts. Kim loved children. She was always really happy to see our children and was always very kind and generous to them. We always looked forward to her visits frequently during Thanksgiving and Christmas. She will be dearly missed. Love you, aunt!
Danny, you are your mother’s child; we see her when we see you. Not all are blessed with such a bond. May her presence in your heart continue to bless and guide you. You are in my prayers.

Auntie (Mợ Ba) was a sweet and and authentic person, anyone would tell you that. Despite her hardships, she was loving and always ready with a smile. Her kindness, strength, and tenacity is what I will remember.
