Chris was born in 1942 to Harold & Opal Barden in Pontiac Michigan. She was the second of five children who eventually settled in Lancaster, California.

In February 1962 she married the love of her life, Don, and they enjoyed 60 wonderful years together.

After retiring from Hanford, she served in many capacities including President of Master Gardeners and enriched the community through hundreds of volunteer hours. She had deep and lasting friendships and loved her family well. She will be greatly missed by us all.

She is survived by husband Donald; daughters Deb Severin and Diane Bailey; grandchildren Nicole Cartillar, Steven Severin, Ciara Orrell and Gjovani Ndoj: great-grandchildren Connor Perryman and Riley Leidel, and sisters Carol Barden and Connie Anderson. She is preceded in death by beloved granddaughter Valerie Cartillar-Ndoj.

Chris bravely fought cancer and endeared herself to all the healthcare workers who served her, with her kindness and gratitude. She had an indomitable spirit that inspired all who knew her.

Einan’s at Sunset Gardens will be assisting the family with a private service.
