Aurora Mixon

Aurora (Grace) Mixon was called to Repose in her Most Blessed Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on
Monday 24 January 2022 at Lourdes Medical Center Pasco, Washington. She was surrounded
by her family. Aurora was born 18 November 1967 to Janie Olvera and Salvador T. Garcia in
San Antonio, Texas.
Aurora is the beloved wife of Gene; mother of Victoria Ashley and Dwight Matson, Alexandra
Catherine and John Somero and Alanzo John Wright; adoring grandmother of Carter Gene,
Gunnar Lewis, Sophie Anne, Maddox James, Adelynn Rose, Elena Jane, Andrew John, Ayla
Faye, Cora Marie and Ellie Charlotte; sister of Jacinto, Jason, Joel and Jamie. Aurora is also
survived by sisters-in-law Lora and Ed Wicks and Ellen Bynum, uncles, aunt and many
nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, brother James, father-in-law Donald Mixon and mother-
in-law Grace Mixon. Her mother passed 10 days after Aurora.
Aurora was a devoted loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, niece and friend. Her
heart was tender and filled with compassion and mercy for everyone she encountered. Having
received mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ her Lord, Aurora viewed every person
through the Cross of Christ. Having been forgiven much, she forgave much. Having been loved
much she loved much. She was always able to meet people where they were at in life and love
them.
Aurora loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She never tired of speaking and showing
love to her family. She viewed every day as a new opportunity to embrace her family and
friends with the love she had for them.
We will for the rest of our lives, hear our wife, mother, grandmother and friend say, “I love you
so much!!”. We will for the rest of our lives feel the warm, tender, loving embrace of her arms.
We will for the rest of our lives know that Aurora loves us!!
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may
not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again,
even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we
declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of
the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from
heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet
of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be
caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be
with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
