Sally Ann Chapman

Sally Foley Chapman, a beautiful, loved, cherished, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great grandma, mother-in-law and dear friend, unexpectantly went to Heaven on February 22, 2022 to stand in the presence of her beloved Lord and Savior. Sally was born January 8, 1938 on the Colville Indian Reservation in Nespelem WA.  Her parents Byron and Alice Foley cherished their little toe headed girl and along with her sister Kay and little brother Pat, provided an idyllic childhood.

Sally moved to Richland in 1952. She attended Carmichael Junior High & later graduated from Columbia High School in 1956. In her younger years Sally was a Lifeguard at the Richland City pool, a Carmichael & Richland Bomber cheerleader, always on Homecoming courts & runner up in the Atomic Frontier Days. Everyone loved Sally. Her gift was making every person she came in contact with feel like they were both important & her friend. She would flash her smile lighting up the room and share her kind loving heart while visiting with anyone and everyone that had the pleasure to meet her.

After high school she attended WSU for a while then moved to Seattle.  To no one’s surprise, she was immediately hired as lead stewardess for the new Hughes Air West Airlines. She was the face on all of their marketing materials & the first person departing the aircraft at every new route destination to present flowers to that city’s representative. A short time later she married the love of her life, moved back to Richland and began raising a family. Together they built a home in Richland where they raised 5 children, Vincent(Anne), Lisa(DJ), Jimmy, Shannon(Moe) and Joel, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandkids.  Her greatest joy was sharing life with her children & traveling the world with Harvey for over 70 years. Trips to Hawaii, foreign countries, numerous summer vacations, many extended families get togethers, cruising in her Gold Lincoln Continental, holidays and all the fun she brought made for an awesome childhood.

Sally’s beauty and sense of style often caused people to take a double and triple look.  Her outfits and 14K gold nails are infamous but what people quickly learned was that her 24K heart shared the same beauty.

Sally never met a stranger on her travels and adventures which made traveling with her a real experience.  Both here and abroad, as she would shop and pay for her items, on leaving she would know the sales clerks name, that her mother was not feeling well and that her son had got an A on his test. All of this she could hardly wait to tell us all about.

Sally loved her way through life and excelled in being a wife, mother and friend to everyone. Her kids and grandkids carry the best of her in each of us and we are blessed to have her loving imprint on our hearts.  Sally excelled in many things but we know that being a loving, faithful wife, doting mother and best grandma was what she is most proud of. She was an angel on earth and an angel in Heaven.  Her family will miss her every minute of every day. We will work hard to live to make her proud.

Mom, dance, laugh loud and hard, share that twinkle in your beautiful blue eyes and we will all look forward to the day we get to dance together again.

A family service will be held at Einans on March 11, 2022 @ 3pm with a celebration fit for our queen for everyone that loved Sally to be held on March 26, 2022 @4pm at the Riverfront Hotel in Richland(formerly the Shilo Inn)
