Charles “Ed” Edmund Ward
Ed was born in Painesville, Kentucky on Aug. 16, 1940, to Carmel and Neva Ward. In 1962 the family followed an LDS missionary and relocated to Kennewick, Washington. At that time, Ed began work for Mayfair as a box boy and eventually worked his way up to store manager.
In 1965, Ed met and married Kaye Lynne Ray. They had three children together: Michael Andrew Ward, Shawna Lynn Ward and Kimberly Mae Ward. The family lived in Kennewick, Washington until 1969, when they moved to Moses Lake, Washington where Ed opened Cascade Grocery. Ed went on to own various businesses in the Moses Lake area, such as Skyline Market, Shag Tavern, Airway Deli and Airway Auto.
Ed was a successful businessman and he was proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. He was a good dad and did his best to provide for his children.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Carmel and Neva Ward, his brother Louis T. Ward and his sister Carolyn Sue Smith (Ward). He is survived by his children Michael (Cheri) Andrew Ward, Shawna (Kelly) Reeves and Kim (Jason) VanLaethem; grandchildren Marcus (Annette) Martin, Matthew (Maranda) Martin, Carly (Travis) Lamb, Haylie VanLaethem, Ally (Luke) Manzo,and Kelsey VanLaethem; and great-grandchildren Nicoli Dean Martin, Carter Robert Martin, Grayson Elliott Lamb, Remi Allen Martin, Olivia Kaye Lamb and Koah William Martin.
At Ed’s request, no services will be held at this time and the family requests no donations or flowers be sent.
Michael, Shawna and Kimmie. And family. You probably don’t remember me but I worked for your dad at Cascade and Skyline groceries for many years when you were girls were real little… sorry you have lost your daddy!! Hard to lose a dad! Prayers for you and your families….
Ward family, so sorry to hear of Ed’s passing I worked for hime 8+ years. Good person to work for.
