Betty grew up in Tacoma and attended Catholic school there.  She married right out of High School and was a wife and mother.  Betty had 4 children and in middle age went back to school to become a nurse.  She was a nurse from 1965 until her retirement in 1990. During her nursing years Betty worked at both Kennewick General Hospital and Kadlec Hospital in Richland. Betty lived in the Tri-City area from 1951 to 1992 when she moved to Kirkland to live with her daughter for the remainder of her life.  She was always busy and very organized. She was a great one to sew, knit, crochet and other hand crafts.  She knit many baby hats for the hospitals in Alaska and made clothes and other things for herself and her family.  She even crocheted an entire rug to put in her room. She loved to play table games with her family and every Friday night they had family game night.  Betty would make sure everyone played by the rules. She was an avid word search player and completed hundreds of books of wordsearch. She loved to travel and visited Israel and Greece with her sister Kathy. She was a strong Christian and in her retirement, she cooked for the summer youth camps for many years and took care of the church kitchen. Betty was a faithful member at King’s Cross Church in Kirkland, WA. She was a friend to many and loved by all who knew her.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Peter Zielinski, her parents Roy Coon and Anna (Valesko) Coon, her brother Roy and her sister MaryAnn.
