Shirley Marushia

Shirley Lois Marushia passed on August 27. 2022, into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. She was born on August 12, 1935, to loving parents, Horace and Eula Jetton in Harris, Oklahoma. The family moved to Richland, WA in 1945, where she has lived since.

Shirley and her sister double dated two good looking service men from Camp Hanford during their high school days. They always double dated only because their dad would not let “those GI’s from West Virginia” be alone with his “girls”. Shirley married that GI, Carl Marushia on April 4, 1953. They celebrated more than 50 years together before he passed in 2016.

We will always remember Shirley for her love of flowers and baseball and her heart for children. She and Carl opened their home to many, many foster children over the years. Several of those young ones still come back “home” and wrap their arms around her and share their memories. Best of all, Shirley shared her love and faith in Jesus to family and strangers alike. She could often be found sharing a meal with a person in need while at the same time encouraging their need for salvation. She didn’t hesitate to share her faith.

While Shirley will be dearly missed by all who knew her, she would want everyone to know that she was more than prepared and eager to meet her Lord and Savior. Her body was frail and broken, but not her spirit. She had run the race and now receives the prize, Heaven!

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Teresa Olson, and two very special children, Danny Burt and Jackie Wakefield-Kendrick. Also surviving are grandchildren, Justin Olson, Amber Olson, Jacob Olson, Jessica Olson, great grandchildren, Sawyer, Austin, Darlene and Emily. She also has one sister, Mona Davis and one brother, Glenn Jetton as well as several very loved nieces and nephews. It is her heart’s desire to see each and every one of her family to accept and love Jesus as they continue on life’s journey.

Viewing will be on Sept 8, 2022, from 9:00am to 1:00pm at Einan’s Funeral Home. Thereafter a graveside service will be held at 1:00pm. All are welcome!
