Janet A Gorham

Janet Ann Gorham, 79 of Benton City, WA, passed away peacefully February 7, 2023. Janet was born February 10, 1943, in Prineville, OR and grew up in LaGrande.

Janet graduated from LaGrande High School and soon to follow she met the love of her life, Weldon. Their dating and engagement were short lived before they began their forever journey of 58 years together being married on December 14, 1963.

The following year they moved to Yakima, WA where Janet worked as a Medical Assistant while Weldon attended Perry Technical Institute. In 1966, they moved to Tri-Cities which became home to them, and their family soon began to grow welcoming two daughters Kristi and Linda. Janet was a homemaker until the two of them started their successful specialty machine business, G&M Machine, until retirement.

Janet enjoyed sewing and craft projects and had a room designated solely for these activities. She also enjoyed working in their yard gardening, planting flowers, and the many camping trips/outings with family and friends. After her daughters were grown and had children of their own was when she took on her new cherished role of Grandma to her four grandchildren where sleep overs, crafts, and attending sporting events became a normal routine on the weekends. Janet also thoroughly enjoyed music and up until her death she was still dancing to Classic Country.

Janet is survived by her daughters Kristi (Jim) and Linda (Terry); grandchildren Brittney (Andrew), Derrick (Amanda), Sheldon, and Paige; great grandchild Camryn; brother Brent (Susan) and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Adam, mother Elvamae, and husband Weldon.

Family would like to thank the many wonderful caregivers at Windsong Memory Care at Southridge and the nurses/staff at Chaplaincy Health Care. We are forever grateful. There will be no service for Janet and in lieu of flowers please donate to one of the above organizations.
