Shirley Mae Hilbert 5/4/1930-4/18/2023

She was preceded in death by her mother Marie, father Nicholas, brother Bernie, and her spouse Ellsworth. She is survived by her daughter Joanne and son Cy as well as seven grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild.

As the wife of a career military officer she held the job of raising four children as both mother and father for half of his military career, while he was deployed away from our home. I am sure this was not easy for her, but she performed admirably. She was active in the Catholic Church and local communities throughout her life.

She enjoyed caring for plants, pets, and people. She always sought to find the good in other people, when most of us could only see the bad. In that respect she was a much better Christian than I will ever be. She will be missed by both family and friends, but after twelve years of hearing her pray for God to take her, I am sure she is overjoyed to be united again with my father, the love of her life.
