Gloria “Jeannie” Percifield
09/20/1948 — 05/09/2014
From Kennewick, WA, USA | Born in Pierre South Dakota
Gloria “Jeannie” Percifield
Gloria "Jeannie" Percifield, 65, of Burbank, Washington passed away Thursday May, 9 2014 in Kennewick Washington.
She was born to the late Bertha and LeRoy Spencer on September 20, 1948 in Pierre, South Dakota. Jeannie moved to the Tri-Cities area with her family at the age of thirteen. Jeannie married Daniel Percifield on August 24, 1965. Jeannie went on to raise six children. In 1972 Jeannie moved her family to Burbank, where she chose a career in Education so she could spend more time with her children and eventually her Grandchildren. As an employee of the Burbank School district, Jeannie served in many roles. Most notably, and her favorite, was the playground duty. There she earned the love, by showing love, to countless number of children. She is still referred to by many as Duty. Jeannie's true passion was children, not only her own, but all children she had the privilege of teaching or "putting on the wall."
Jeannie retired from the Burbank School District in 2003. In her retirement, she spent time performing the craft she loved. Although almost completely blind, she still crocheted the most beautiful tablecloths, doilies and bedspreads.
Jeannie is survived by her beloved Husband of 49 years, Daniel Percifield, her six children: Daniel Percifield and Wife Danna, Dennis Percifield, Delbert Percifield and Leslie Underwood, Donald Percifield, Virginia Harlan, and Victoria Percifield. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded by her beloved Parents Bertha and Leroy Spencer, Sister Bonnie Spencer-Baldwin, and Brother Ricky Spencer.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that an act of kindness, without judgment be performed. It has been said by many that Jeannie never passed judgment on others; she always showed the utmost kindness and compassion.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 12:00A.M., at the Eagles Lodge, 115 North Fruitland Street in Kennewick, immediately followed by a potluck reception and celebration.
Our prayers go out to the Percifield family. Jeanie was loved by so many. There was not a child on the playground that didn’t love her. We have known Dan, Jeanie and the kids for years, what a great family. So sorry for your loss. Keep all the great memories in your heart. Love to you all.
