Rita Schutt

Rita was born January 27th in Baldwinsville, New York.  She grew up in Baldwinsville with her mom and Dad, Laura and Herb Corders. She married Richard Schutt in1963.

In 1965 Rita and Richard moved to California.  While in California, Rita worked for Vandenberg Air Force Base as a secretary and was recognized several times for her excellent contributions.  Rita and Richard started their family while in California.  Both of their children, Michael and Brenda, were born while they were in California.

After a few years in California, the family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina and then to Richland, Washington.  Rita lived in Richland for the last 40 years.

During this time she was a very devoted mother and wife, taking part in her children’s activities including being involved with PTA and she was a Campfire troop leader.

She went to work in the Hanford area in 1980, where she worked until she retired.  After retirement she especially enjoyed travelling with family and friends.  She went 7 cruises along with several other trips.  She was also able to spend significant time with her three grandchildren, which was very important to her.  She comforted the kids when they were sick, taught them to make cookies, attended all recitals, performances, games and anything the kids were involved with. She also was involved with PTA and was a room mother for her granddaughter’s kindergarten classroom.

Her husband Richard H. Schutt of 25 years, passed away in 2000.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Brad Atencio of Richland, WA and their three children Alexis, Bella and Brock; and her son Michael Schutt of Tacoma, WA.

The Services will be April 30th at 11:00 at Central United Protestant Church followed by the graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens. After the Graveside service, there will be a Celebration of Life at Enian’s Event Center.
