Linda Mullen

Our dear mother, wife, sister and friend, Linda Mullen was called home to be with Our Lord on July 10, 2016 surrounded by her children and loved ones. Born in Great Falls, Montana on April 5th, 1951, Linda Marie Oien was the first born of John and Rita Oien.  Her great sense of adventure began as a child with the many moves she made with her parents and six siblings. Linda met her husband, Duane Mullen in 1969 while attending Gonzaga University.  They married in December of 1970, moving across the country, to Boston, then to Chewelah, Portland, Alaska, and Spokane, finally settling in Richland, WA where they raised their seven children.  Linda was first and foremost a loving mother to five daughters and two sons.  She was always involved in her children’s lives – coaching their teams, volunteering in the classrooms and attending all of their school events.  Linda’s infectious sense of humor and zeal for life created a home full of love and laughter.  Her home was often the gathering place for her children and their friends and later her grandchildren and their friends.

Linda was very involved in her parish of Christ the King.  She worked in the school office and was a member of the school board and parish council for many years.  Linda worked for Dr. Anthony Hadeed as the office manager for 17 years.  She loved working with the families of the babies born at Kadlec.

Linda’s mother Rita, father John and her grandson Peter precede her in death.  She is survived by husband of forty five years, Duane, her daughter Tessie (granddaughters Emily, Molly and Jane), her daughter Suzie and husband Jason (grandson Tyler, granddaughter Jessica), daughter Becky and her husband Paul (grandsons Mitchell and Matthew, granddaughter Catie), daughter Bonnie (granddaughters Natalie, Grace, and Katie), son John and his wife Meghan (grandsons Jack and soon Matthew), daughter Sarah and husband Dave (grandsons Hayden and John), and son Joseph. She is also survived by her siblings Bob (wife Heike), Cherie, Laurie, Kathleen, Jim (wife Danette) and Mary as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Linda was incredibly proud of each of her children and grandchildren and loved to tell everyone all about her family.

Linda never met a stranger.  She would strike up a conversation with anybody, anywhere. She had a quick wit and always had a joke. She was a friend to everyone she met, spreading her happiness and love of life.

Viewing will be at Christ the King Church in Richland WA on Friday, July 15th, from 5-7pm. A recitation of the rosary will follow the viewing.  Funeral services will be held the next morning, Saturday, July 16th at 11 at Christ the King Church.  Interment will be at Resthaven cemetery after the funeral.
