Vera Dee McCue Dee McCue of Richland, WA, passed away peacefully at Hospice House in Kennewick Sunday morning, September 16, 2001. Born May 31, 1913 in Monessen, PA, she married William Bill Price McCue of Morgantown WVA in 1932. They lived in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Illinois before settling in Richland in 1944, when Bill was transferred to work on the Hanford Project. Bill and Dee celebrated 68+ years together prior to Bills death April 26, 2001.
She is survived by her children and their respective families: Bill and Janet McCue of West Richland, Jay and Donavle McCue of Richland, Ann and Ed Hewett of Abilene, Texas, and Mary Hansen of Bellevue, WA: 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Dee was a positive spirit, appreciating the world God gave us. She was an active member of the community, volunteering at Central United Protestant Church, serving as a girl scout leader, a member of the Kadlec Auxiliary, active in the Walk to Emmaus community, and a member of P.E.O., chapter FK. She enjoyed her family and home and left a great legacy of loving and caring. She loved to bake, sharing her creations with family, friends and neighbors.
Dee lived a blessed life, and we can celebrate her life and death without regret. The family wants to thank Hospice House for allowing her final days to be lived with that same dignity and grace.
A Memorial Service with be held Thursday September 20th at 3:00pm at Central United Protestant Church, 1124 Stevens Drive, Richland.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central United Protestant Church Missions Projects, or Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House, 2108 W. Entiat, Kennewick.
My dad and I really enjoyed getting to know Dee over the last few years. “She was a great table mate and always made sure I got an extra piece of banana bread.”
She was very upbeat and ready to chat even through
Bill’s illness and her own. Father misses her company at meals.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
She was a friend and a sister in P.E.O.and in Christ, with a gentle and quiet spirit but strong in her resolve. She is one to be admired, a remarkable lady. Her smile, her devotion to her husband, family and friends. Many are the times we came away with rolls or candy in hand-her way of saying “thank you,” The cherished times we travelled together to our Small Group meetings and the cherished objects to remember both Dee and Bill – two small olive wood cups that they used for communion while in Israel.Bill and Dee are now safely in the arms of Jesus. They left a legacy of love.
Even though she could not see, she saw the beauty in all that their was.
