Leola Mae Emery

Lola Mae Emery, 72, of Richland, WA, passed away peacefully at her home in the arms of her loving children on February 11, 2002.

Lola was born June 17, 1929, in Hazel Run, Minnesota to Philemon and Ella Anderson. She moved to Richland in 1957 and worked as an assistant manager at Seattle First National Bank for 25 years, retiring in 1985. She then worked at the Sandpiper/Jerry’s Place Tavern for 12 years until her sudden illness forced her retirement in October 2001.

Lola was a very hard-working, generous and caring person and will be dearly missed by her family and so many friends. The family gives a special thanks to her dear friends, Jerry Robinson, Eudene and Agnes, who helped so much during this difficult time.

Lola devoted her life to her two children and granddaughter whom she deeply cherished. She enjoyed watching her granddaughter, Joclyn, playing softball with the Tri-City Spirit. She also enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, watching the Mariners, and was an avid gardener.

Lola is survived by her son, Casey Emery, wife, Lori, and granddaughter, Joclyn, all of Richland; daughter, Lori and husband, Dave Johnson of Spokane; sisters, Doris Bjornstad and husband, Don, of Moorhead, MN, Arla Boe and husband, Wynston, of Minneota, MN; several nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends.

Mom now joins her mother, father and brother, Andy in heaven.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House, 2108 W. Entiat Ave. Kennewick, WA 99336.

At Lola’s request there will be no formal service. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2002, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the West Richland Moose Lodge, 5828 W. Van Giesen. All friends of Lola and her family are invited , including children.

  • Lola was my aunt. She truly was one of the sweetest people. She had a heart of gold. My only regret is I didn’t live closer to her but I know she knew how much she meant to me. I pray she is with the angels and that I will see her again in heaven. I love the bible verse that says to be absent from the body is to be present with our Lord!!!! I belive the world was a better place because she was in it…..

  • Grandma Lola was a wonderful lady with a heart of gold. She was not only a great Grandma to me but also a good friend. She will be greatly missed by all. I still remember all of the times I spent at your house and all of the talks that I had with her, and I wouldnt give all of these great times away for anything. When I think about all the wonderful things Grandma did with me the one thing that sticks out the most that I will truly miss is Grandama being at all of my softball games sitting in the stands watching. You mean the world to me Grandma! We will all miss you.

  • Lola was my grandmother Arla’s sister. Even though I didn’t know her very well, I do know that she came from a wonderful family. Her family has my deepest and most sincere sympathy. The world has lost a wonderful lady. We shall all meet Lola again someday in a beautiful place.
