RAYMOND BEN GREENFIELD

Raymond Ben Greenfield was born September l, 1925, to Ben and Corda Greenfield in Morris, Oklahoma and passed away on March 26, 2002, at the age of 76.

He attended schools in Morris and nearby Okmulgee.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and following his discharge attended Oklahoma A&M until coming to Richland in 1947.

He married Lucille Johnson on November 25, 1948. They lived in Richland until May 1949 when they moved to Kansas for two years. Upon their return to Richland Raymond worked for General Electric and Douglas United Nuclear as a reactor operator until the reactors closed. He retired from Battelle-Northwest in 1986.

As a young man he liked to hunt, fish, and play softball. He was interested in genealogy and had traced his family history back several generations. He and Lucille raised three daughters and took great pride in their school activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Doris Greenfield, who died in 1957. He is survived by his wife of 53 years; two sisters, Juanita Murphy of Kennewick and Patricia Mrs. Claude Sullivan of Richland; children Rebecca and Richard Ponder of Severna Park, MD; Janet and Ed Ruffner of Kirkland, WA; and Jill Greenfield of Cheney, WA; two grandchildren, Holly Ponder and Benjamin Ruffner, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday,April 2, 2002 at Einan’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Central United Protestant Church, 1124 Stevens Drive, Richland, WA 99352.
