Robert Curtis Forsman

EINAN’S FUNERAL HOME Robert C. Forsman passed away peacefully in his home in Richland on March 5, 2002. Robert was born June 27, 1924 in Casper, Wyoming. He received the Bronze Star while serving in the Army in the 76th Infantry Division during WWII.

After the war he enrolled in the University of Michigan where he would later receive his BS in Chemistry and his Masters degree in Education. In September of 1950 just prior to his graduation he was recruited by General Electric to work in the research labs at the Hanford Project.

While at Hanford he worked in many different areas starting with the Technical Grad Program at 300 area laboratories. Later he would become shift supervisor at the tank farms. He became the manager of waste encapsulation at WESF and then finally retired from Rockwell while working at the Purex facility in June 1986.

He had many interests and hobbies. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, the Elks, NMA and the Richland Camera Club. But he was most proud to be a part of the Richland Spudnut Shop coffee club. He also loved traveling and talking about the stock market and computers with his friends.

Robert married the love of his life Diane while attending college in June 1950. In June of 2000 they shared their 50th wedding anniversary. Surviving Robert is his wife Diane of Richland. Son: Jim and wife Kim of Vashon Island, Washington. Son: Robert and wife Kathy of Richland. Daughter: Nancy Forsman and close friend of the family May Sheriff of Richland. Sister: Lillian Reed of Lincoln, Nebraska and Sister in law Caroline Forsman of Montesano, Washington.

Robert's happiest moments were the times he was able to share with his grandchildren Sean and Kaela Forsman and Aaron Mann.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Einan’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be at Einan’s from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday.
