Bernard William Knirck
06/20/1947 — 09/07/2002
From Richland, WA, US | Born in Richland, Washington
Bernard William Knirck
Bernard Bill William Knirck
Bernard William Knirck was born June 20, 1947 at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, Washington. Like all baby-boomers who were fortunate enough to grow up in Richland after the War, he cherished his childhood memories of Marcus Whitman, Carmichael and the Chestnut and Birch Street neighborhood. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1965, and never missed a class reunion, where he could share memories with hundreds of friends. He attended WSU for three years, and graduated from the University of Washington School of Pharmacy in 1970. At WSU, he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, an experience he treasured and relived every chance he had with his great friend and frat brother the late Lonnie Olson. Bill married Teresa DeVine at Christ the King Church on August 17, 1968. They met in 1963, and attended Columbia High School and WSU together. In 1970, they moved back to Richland, where Bill worked for PayLess and Pay n Save Drugs. He and Teresa purchased Malleys Pharmacy in 1987, Densows in his old neighborhood in 1994; and his legions of loyal customers and friends followed him there. It was through his businesses that Bill touched many in the community, and his career as a pharmacist best exemplified the genuine concern and compassion he felt for others. The personalized and individualized attention and care that he paid his customers came to symbolize the philosophy that guided his business and his life. He truly had the ability to charm and touch everyone that he met.
Despite the onset of cancer several years ago, Bill continued to actively pursue his interests. He remained an avid collector of old toys and little men, and traveled regularly to toy shows and auctions. Bill was a longtime fastpitch softball coach, and he thoroughly enjoyed every minute spent on the field. He also supported Hanford High School athletics, attended basketball, softball, and football games; and yelled loudly and often. Bill also was passionate about Mariner baseball and Cougar football, remaining a Cougar season ticket holder; and, in what has to have been the defining moment for every true Coug, cheering on the Cougs at the Rose Bowl in 1998. His enthusiasm for golf, however, waned in the mid-80s after the development of a truly nasty slice.
A devoted father and husband, in recent years Bill was proud to celebrate his 34th wedding anniversary, his daughters college graduation, and on July 20 of this year, his sons wedding. Those who knew and lived with Bill know that he would rather laugh than anything, and that he was always up for a good joke, practical or otherwise.
Left with wonderful memories are Bills wife Teresa; his daughter Jocelyn, son Jason and his wife Mari; his parents Rueben and Ginger Knirck; sisters Sandi Schmidt and Karen Parker; brother-in-law Denny DeVine and his family; and mother- and father-in-law Opal and Frank DeVine. Lifelong friends Roger Fishback, Danny Warner, Jim Newton and many others also remain to honor his memory by laughing and cherishing the great times.
Bills family extends thanks to the staff at Dr. Rados office, as well as the doctors, nurses and therapists in the CCU at Kadlec., who were so supportive and compassionate during Bills illness.
We love you, Dad, and always will.
Rosary will be recited Friday evening, September 13 at 7:00 pm at Christ the King Church. A Memorial Mass will be said on Saturday, September 14 at 11:00 am at Christ the King.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bills memory to Catholic Family and Child Services, 2139 Van Giesen, Richland; or Hanford High School Falcon Booster Scholarship fund, c/o Tom Hegarty, 450 Hanford Street, Richland.
Very sorry to learn of the passing of Bill. He was a great asset to the community.
Psaln 18:2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Will be praying for you during this difficult time.
Bro,
There is a better place than here, now, some say.
I will find you when I get there, some way.
We will ski in heavens rivers,
And sing the old time songs.
Well be Cowboy/Indian givers,
We will right the woeful wrongs.
Ill dance Minuet with you again, that day.
We will cut out Valentine-osaurs,
I will teach you to play flute.
You will play “El Toro Solo”
Then off we’ll go to shoot.
There is a better place than here, now, some say.
I will find you when I get there, some day.

P.S. The Knirck kids, of Priest Lake, Idaho, are Huckleberry friends, cuz mom and Dad told us so!
Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

Cowboys and Indians have called a truce
And put their weapons down
Toy soldiers line the golden streets
On clouds in heaven now
To stand in celebration
And praise their champion
He who died with the most toys
And the biggest heart has come
Memories: Thank-You.. Reading these tributes to my brother has been salve to some very hurt hearts. He is the BEST. I am very lucky and Proud to call him my brother and my friend. Thanks to Teresa for being his life partner, to Jason & Jocelyn for being children he was so very proud of, to Mom & Dad for being the parents they are and to my sister Sandi for putting music in our lives. And to all the many people who loved him and laughed with him. With many loving memories Bill, Karen KEZ
As one of Bill’s “Malley’s/Densow’s
girls”, I will miss seeing him in
the stores so very much. He has been
a good friend for 24+ years as my
pharmacist and a fabulous boss these
past 2+ years.
Our thoughts and prayers go out
to the Knirck and DeVine families.
Thank you for sharing Bill with all
the rest of us. He will forever be
much loved.

Everyone who knew you loved you, and everyone who didn’t would have. We were blessed to have known you and will carry your memory with us always.
We love you,

Teresa, Jocelyn, Jason…
Know that we love you all very much…Bill was an incredible person and touched my life in so many ways. We spent endless hours together on that softball or was it Basketball? : field…Mr. Bill was an inspiration to all of us kids – he was there when we were winning 2nd in state if I recall correctly and there when we weren’t winning…always there. I was recalling my memories of Bill; that room filled with little men couldn’t help but make me smile, and then there were the times we’d ride around Malleys after closing in the wheelchairs :…He was a delight in every way; a great coach, a great mentor, & a great father to you both. I feel blest knowing he was a part of my life. Take care and God Bless you all. We love you and are thinking of you.
My family sisters, brothers,
myself cousin, aunt, Marietta
and mom, Terry all enjoyed being around Bill when he was visiting my cousin, Bill Fleming, who lived in the neighborhood. We would see Bill at Densows, or Malleys or at church. I seldom saw Bill without a smile. He always had a cheerful disposition and a wonderful attitude that he displayed
during his illness.
He had a lot of courage and
this is another quality I’ll
remember about him. He was a
very special person.
We’ll ask God’s blessings upon your family now and in the days ahead.
Sincerely,
Ann Hedges
Teresa and family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. What can one say about Bill that won’t be repeated again and again by all who knew him? I will always remember him as a ‘nice, nice’ person. He was always friendly, always happy and smiling. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Bill was a great gossip. He really held court at all our reunion committe meetings. Yet he kept so many people’s counsel through their illnesses. Bill was not seeking a greater reward. He was very happy with his life here on earth. What will we do without him?
Teresa and Family;
Our thoughts, love and prayers are with you during this very difficult time in your life. Bill was loved by all that new him, what a wonderful man, he will be missed by all. He touched so many people in the short time he was here on earth. His memory lives on.
Love,
Butch, Sharon and Family
When I think of Bill, I first remember his kindness. Originally I knew him as a “competing” pharmacist when I was just out of school and working at Buttreys. We got to know each other a little better after the fire when the Rx community pulled together for that crisis. After I returned from Kenya he helped me regain my professional competence by letting me shadow the pharmacists at his stores, even though I had only been his employee for a few weeks, 4 years previously. Without that I wouldn’t have felt confident enough to return to pharmacy work in this country. When I became his employee again 2 years ago he did everything he could to help and make it a pleasant situation. I have never enjoyed another job as much as this one. His personality was infused throughout the stores.
I also think of his humor. Especially when I was new he would call up and disguise his voice to try to pull my chain. He’d always joke around with the customers and employees. You never knew what to expect. He played practical jokes all the time, including at company parties. It was always a little wild working with Bill.
Of course he didn’t joke all the time and so we got to know each other better. I came to respect him as an ethical and caring person. His faith was something that carried him through. I’m greatly comforted to think that I will see him again one day. I miss him more than I can say and find little reminders of him every day.
Rest easy Bill.
Love, Val
Teresa, I am so sorry for you and your family. Sharen Manolopoulos told me about Bill. I know we haven’t kept in touch but I wanted you to know my prayers are with you.
Dear friends Teresa, Jocelyn & Jason,
Bill was the “representative of Richland.” He was a Bomber, a Falcon, a Cougar, great father, husband, friend! How he will be missed. Know how much the Knirck family means to many of us. We will be here in Ohio cheering those Cougars on as he would have wanted us to. Good thoughts & many fond memories, especially love to you…

“A Forever Friend”
Author Unknown
Sometimes in life, you find a special friend; someone who changes your life just be being part of it. Someone who makes you laugh until you can’t stop; someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world. Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it. This is Forever Friendship. When you’re down, and the world seems dark and empty, your forever friend lifts you up in spirit and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full. Your forever friend gets you through the hard times, the sad times, and the confused times. If you turn and walk away, your forever friend follows. If you lose your way, your forever friend guides you and cheers you on. Your forever friend holds your hand and tells you that everything is going to be okay. And if you find such a friend, you feel happy and complete, because you need not worry. You have a forever friend for life, and forever has no end.
You always will be my forever friend.
I love you.

My Sympathies to Teresa, Jocelyn and Jason. I remember Bill fondly. We went to Marcus,Carmichel and Richland High together.I also had the privlege of working with Bill at PayLess and remember how much fun he was to work with. Shirley Carlisle
Imagine the smile across his face
when he finds that beautiful, wonderful place.
Where everyone laughs at nothing at all,
Where love and kindness pave the way.
Where everyone wins, and the fun never ends,
and you don’t have to work in order to play.
No broken bones, no broken hearts.
Where strength never ends, and pain never starts.
Where no one cries, and no one dies, and nothing kills and everything fills your heart with joy.
Let everything fill your heart with joy.
Take him up where he belongs,
With an instrument of peace,
play his favorite songs.
Your time is now, Go on, fly high,
Past the moon, ascend the sky.
Leave your worries, Leave your fears,
Forget your heartache and your tears.
Let our hearts fill with love,
and our souls fill with peace,
I’m so glad I had the chance to be your niece.
All my love to everyone, for love is all we need.
Sarah
My deepest sympathies to your family for your loss. My memories of Bill are very fond. When I lived in Kennewick in the late 70’s and early 80’s I always got my Rx’s filled at Pay N Save at the Mall. He was always there to greet you with the biggest warmest smile and cared about his customers. He was always my favorite Pharmasist. I know he probably would not have remembered me, but he touched my life with his kindess and warm smile to make me remember the wonderful and caring person he was. May he rest in peace and enjoy a painless and joyful afterlife. God Bless.

I will miss shaking Bill’s hand at 8:00 Mass. Since I met him over 20 years ago, Bill has always had a warm smile and hardy hello and has always treated me with kindness. Bill is what makes Richland such a great place to live and work and play and our world is so much better for him having been here.
My family’s heart goes out to you. I will celebrate and cherish his memory forever.
Uncle Bill,You touched the lives of all who knew you, and took a piece of each of us with you. You will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and love to Aunt Teresa,Jason, and Jocelyn, Grandma, Grandpa, Mom And Karen, and everyone else who is missing a part of themselves today.~Love Amie

Growing up in Richland during the 1980s with my single mother, I remember Mr. Knirck fondly.
As we were just getting back on our feet as a new single-parent/only-child family unit, we couldnt always afford a visit to the doctors office. Instead, we would go to Mr. Knirck for advice regarding treatment of various ailments. He was always there for us, no matter what the circumstance. In fact, as a child I always thought Mr. Knirck was our doctor.
Mr. Knirck was a true pillar of the community and will undoubtedly be missed very much.
That is a really neat snapshot of Mr. Knircks life I just read. Teresa, Jocelyn and Jason, I know your pain and you have all of my family’s deepest sympathies. God Bless your family, The Wakeham’s
Uncle Bill,
An emptiness has entered our lives, but your memory will always fill our hearts. You were an inspiration to so many, your smile and laughter will always remain, you are missed. We love you Uncle Bill.
Thank you to all that knew and loved him. Your tributes and memories mean a lot to the family.
Our prayers and thoughts go out to Aunt Teresa, Jason, Jocelyn, Grandma and Grandpa Knirck, Mom and Dad Karen & Jim Parker, Aunt Sandi and Uncle Richard, the DeVines, and to the rest of his family and friends, there are so many.
Forever in our memories, Forever in our hearts…

Dear Teresa, Jocelyn, and Jason:
I am so very sorry of the loss of your husband and father. Our deepest sympathies are with all of you. We are all thinking about you, and we hope and pray that your strong faith and your love for each other will keep you strong. I had just seen Bill at Kadlec a few weeks ago when my mother, who has Alzheimer’s, and I were pacing second floor. Bill waved at me as he was getting his chemo in one of the rooms. A huge friendly smile is my last remembrance of Bill. I marvelled that day at his powerful strength. We love you, Delia, Sara and David Gonzalez
You are all in our thoughts and our prayers. Bill was a very special guy!! We knew him from the pharmacy–he was always so ready to be of help!! His mother and sister we also knew from Bingo–God Bless.
Bill was our nephew and cousin but he was so much more. From the time my sister Ginger brought him home from the hospital to his being the “oldest” cousin in cabin #32 at Priest Lake he was a joy to be around.
He had a smile that could like the room and a sense of humor both wicked and witty – that was Bill – as he will always be in our memories.
Our hearts are so heavy with the loss of one who still had so much to give, so much left to do – a life unfinished.
We grieve with his parents, Ginger and Rueben, with his sisters Sandi and Karen and their families; with Teresa, Jason and Jocelyn, Opal and Frank Devine, Denny and Jenny Devine and their family and all who knew and loved Bill. No one will ever forget you.
With Love Forever, Aunt Cherie and Uncle Red, Kay, Jim, Mike and Debbie
Dear Teresa,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God Bless.
Sincerely,
Loretta Jensen Kusak ’65
Dear Teresa and Family,
We have been customers of Bill’s for over 15 years. All that time we felt like we were part of his family. He cared about each and every one of his customers and greeted us so warmly every time we were in Malley’s. I’ve never met a kinder, more compassionate businessman. His middle name was “community”. It didn’t matter what condition you were in when you entered his store…you would leave with a smile on your face, feeling like you’d just had coffee with your best friend.
We will miss Bill terribly. He is an irreplaceable angel in our community but a permanent smile in our hearts. Our love and prayers go out to you. The Dale Family
We’ll miss Bill’s smile and friendship. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Teresa, Jason and Jocelyn.

My prayers are with your family at this difficult time. Bill was a very special person. He will be missed by everyone.
We were also deeply saddened to hear of Bill’s death. We weren’t aware that he was that sick. We remember how touched he was when we lost our son Eric more than 17 years ago. He said he had to go into the back room at Pay’n Save and cry after talking with us. We were thankful for his special care as our pharmacist for many years. His warmth and smile will be sorely missed! God give you strength for the months ahead!
Teresa and family,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. After reading the pages of condolences here and on the Bomber web site, it is truly inspirational to see that Bill touched so many people in so many different ways. He was truly a gift from God and that no matter how long or short of time that you knew Bill he had the same effect on everyone the he met.
Our family will always remember Bill cheering on the boys at the Little League game or by pumping up the Girls Fast Pitch team by asking them “Where’s the Play?”
God Bless You.
Mike, Mary, Hannah and Joshua
Bill Knirk, what a wonderful man. Bill always had smile a for you and as he looked you in the eye you knew he cared about you as he asked what was the latest events in your life. I remember fun times at the cougar games; Bill was a faithful couger. In earlier years when my husband and I would join Bill and Theresa for an evening of merriment, Bill and I would search the juke box for the song “Wild Thing” , oh how we loved playing that song and singing as loud as we could. One Juke box I remember was at the Big Y – we got a little out of hand when the song played while we where playing pool. Enough said . . .
I remember what a great support Bill was to his daughter during her high school years at Handford. I assisted in coaching bassketball and Bill was a wonderful fan for his daughter and teammates. Thank you for all the great Christmas gatherings at your home. So many great times with friends. Bill we will remember you always. Love, chris J
Mrs. Knirk and Family,
Thru this time in your life you all must pull together and become one.
Mrs. Knirk, you were there for me and I want to be there for you…
You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Teresa and Family,
Bill was a truly loving man. I am so sorry for your loss. Life is precious. It is a gift to be able to spend the short time we have here on this earth with someone who was such a splendid person. Bill was so wonderful to someone that I loved so much, Mrs. Bun Scott. I will always be grateful to him. He was always so sweet to me at our class reunions. I am thinking about your family. You are in my heart and prayers. Sincerely, Jamie Worley Hills
So sorry to see another Richland Bomber leave us. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time. My God be with you.
I met Bill and Teresa through the DeVines, which involves every sport Denny can coach with Bill as his side-kick or the teams number one non-parentfan! Alot of kids knew him as ‘coach Bill’ and foremost Jalen and Danae’s Uncle Bill. We will miss him. He was such an inspiration to the childrens lives he touched with his constant encouragement and humor! He was an inspiration to me knowing the battle he faced yet never gave up or let it get him down. Even with knowing him the short time that I did I knew Bill was a truely genuine, sincere, caring person who always saw the bright side in everything and everybody. People like Bill don’t come along everyday and we are truely blessed when they do cross the path of our lives and touch us in the way God intended.
The power of pray is awesome, find comfort and strenght in knowing others are praying for your family and Bill during this difficult time.
May God continue to bless and carry you through the sorrow.
Deepest Sympathies,
Heidi
Teresa, I don’t know if you remember me, but I sort of knew you. I am so sorry for the loss of Bill. I realize that I only really knew him by reputation, and it makes me sad. I never had a class with him, and I’m not sure if we ever spoke. Hearing from others on the site what a wonderful person he was makes me wish I had actually known him. I do remember you, however and want to give you my deepest condolences.
Bless you and your family at this sad time. Bill was much loved by many.
Patricia de la Bretonne
Teresa & family,
We were shocked and saddened to hear of Bill’s passing and we are so sorry for your loss. Bill was a delightful person to be around; we know he will be missed by so many. We have known your family for a such a long time and even though we haven’t kept in touch over the years, we have always admired your family for being such a friendly and positive example of our community. We have fond memories of knowing you when our families were younger and sharing some very tender times. Please know our hearts are with you at this very tender time in your lives and that we will be thinking of you often.
We just want you to know we have a vivid picture in our minds of the last time we saw you and Bill. He was driving your Corvette in the Cool Desert Nights parade this last July – you knew he was definitely a happy man, doing what he loved.
Our thoughts & prayers are with you,
Love Jan & Bill
Teresa, Jason and Jocelyn, Just wanted to let you know that we were deeply crushed at Bill’s passing. Bill was the best people person I knew. He had a genuine interest in everyone and always knew what was important to each and every person. He was always such a happy man because he had life figured out–he had the best attitude and he taught people how to treat one another by his actions. When I had to go pick up gear at Milestone’s I was always pumped because I could go into Densows to see Billand a breath of fresh air if you know what I meanand we always had a great laugh about something. Then it was local sports talk and I was out of there feeling pretty good–because that’s the way you felt after talking to Bill.He had time for everyone including Madeline.Bill would always put away a beanie baby or two for Madeline when the new shipments came in.That made her feel pretty special. Our family loved Bill dearly and we will miss him immensely as will all who knew him–but we feel so fortunate to have known him.Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys. Ben Jacobs and Family
I have read through the many pages of condolences and my heart has been uplifted with the love that is in these pages for Bill. My prayers are with you, Teresa and Family.
May God Bless,
Carol
To te family of Bill
We will miss this wonderful man. He took care of my husband and I for many years. I lost my husband this past month so my children and I know the pain you are experiencing. May God bless you all and keep you close to each other. Bill will still be watching over you as he did with so many people in this town for so many years.
Billie jean & family
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family in this time of mourning. My God comfort you and watch over you.
Ethan
My condoloences go out to the Knirck family as well as my hope that God brings you comfort. I can see in my mind the smile that was always on Bill’s face the times I was around him. It was contagious, and seemingly hereditary as everyone in his family was always smiling.
He will no doubt be missed by many, but the memories will keep those who loved him close, and will help us to remember that he is now smiling from above.
Eli
Teresa,
My deepest sympethies to you, Jocelyn, Jason, and all of your family for the loss of your husband. I am sorry that I did not know Bill, he sounds like a wonderfull person.

Columbia High School Class of 1964
From the first phone call from AJ telling me about meeting Jocelyn and all the rest of the good memories in between, the Knircks will have a special place in our hearts.
Bill had the most engaging smile that would pop out and light up his whole face and it was evident how much he enjoyed living. I am sure there are many more people who will miss that than we are even aware of.
Be with God and at peace Bill
you deserve it.
I’ll miss you, Bill. But I will always keep your smile, laughter and love for life in my heart and mind. Teresa, I am very sorry for your loss. Bill touched a lot of lives including mine. I loved Bill and I will miss him very much. Rod
There were those cute Knirk kids who lived next door, they had such a neat Mom and Dad and were my favorites to babysit. Go in peace, Bill, you’ll be remembered.
To the DeVine and Knirck Families:
When I think of Bill, I think of his laugh, smile, and his quick wit. He always had time to listen, and helped me and many others through difficult times. He will be sorely missed. I recently attended a memorial for another close friend, and the following poem was read:
Grief is like a jagged rock that you bury deep in your pocket, it’s sharp edges forcing you to take it out and examine it from time to time – even when you do not want to.
And when it’s too heavy to carry, you must ask a friend to hold it so you can rest.
As time passes, it is a little easier to take the rock out of your pocket. It doesn’t seem to weigh as much. Now you show it to a circle of friends and, occasionally, even a stranger.
One day you pull out the rock and surprisingly, it doesn’t really hurt as much. For the edges are no longer jagged, but smoothed out by time, touch and tears. == Author unknown.
My thoughts are with you. Linda
We extend our deapest sympathy and will keep Bill, his family and his friends in our prayers.
Jack & Loretta Buckingham
Teresa, Jocelyn, Jason and Mari,
My deepest sympathy to all your family at this time. Bill was a great guy and I am proud that I was in his high school graduating class. He was a leader in the community and was a careing person, always smiling and liked to tell jokes. My Mom Betty Snider was up here the week of Mothers Day and she stopped in to Densows and Bill took time out of his busy schedule to visit with her. She thought that was so nice. That’s the way he was friendly and well liked. Of course that’s why we of ’65’ voted him as ‘best liked’. I will truly miss him and my heart is with you all. Bill, may you rest in peace.
To the Family:
I would like to say that it has really been an honor knowing Bill the last year or so since he bought Densows Drug Store. I would like to hope for the best for his family members who are left behind.
Steve also sends his best regards. He called me the other day and told me the news.

Waynes Barbershop
My heart has been broken all week with the unexpected news that Bill has left us for the time being. The last time I saw him he looked so great and said he was doing extremely well.
My grief is doubled by the fact that I have to work a 48 hour shift in the Emergency Room here in Bonners Ferry, Idaho from Fri, 9/13, 0800 until Sunday, 9/15, 0800 so I will not be able to attend Bill’s funeral to personally express my condolences to Teresa & Jason and all the many others who will be there to remember and honor Bill.
I have long said, and I will stand by this claim until someone can convince me otherwise, that of all the dear friends we have from the special Class of 1965, NONE IS MORE BELOVED and NONE HAS DONE MORE FOR THE CITY OF RICHLAND THAN BILL KNIRCK !!!
What a tremendous legacy he has left. What a wonderful contribution he has made to make his/our corner of the world a better place than he found it.
When I remember Bill, it will be for his truly contagious SMILE. Bill was synonymous with HAPPY, CHEERFUL, UPBEAT, ENCOURAGING, GENEROUS, FRIENDLY, HONORABLE, and LOVED, to just mention a few of the first of his many positive characteristics that come to mind.
I loved Bill Knirck eventhough I was not among his innermost circle of friends. Bill had a way of reaching out and including many, many others and making them feel his warmth.
I will miss Bill for as long as I live. I am only grateful that he is no longer suffering and I am confident that his spirit continues to live in place where we would all rather be if we only knew what Bill now knows. My heart aches for we who remain behind, without the sunshine of his smile.
May we all, but especially Bill’s family and closest friends and loved ones somehow be comforted to endure the pain of his departure. Only God knows how much we all loved Bill and will miss him.
Rest in Peace, dear friend.
With love and misses, Lamont
Bill was a very generous, and good hearted man, a man who was very principled in the highest regard. I am very greatful for not only having the good fortune to work for him, but more importantly to
know such a good human being.
My sincerest condolences to all his dear family for their loss. May God keep you and give you strength during this time. I will miss you Bill.
Teresa, Jocelyn, Jason,
We extend our deepest sympathy to you, the Knirck and the DeVine Families at the loss of Bill. He was the best neighbor, always with a good word to say and quick with a smile. He will truely be missed.
God Bless,
Michael & Patti
To Teresa & family,
We will miss Bill’s smiling face behind the counter at Mallys. He was so kind when my parents were in their last years and had many drug-related needs. Our deepest sympathy to all his family.

Growing up in Richland I remember picking up prescriptions at Malley’s and seeing Bill- he always remembered my name and took time to chat. He was always interested in I was doing and how softball was going. I just remember what a genuinely nice man he was who always had a smile on his face. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
Great man, will see you later Bill!
I am so saddened by Bill’s passing. I knew him through his mother Ginger at the Bon and my sisters Paige and Toby Wheeler. Whar a loss, everytime I have come “home” I have heard such good about Bill and Theresa. What more can I say he will be truly missed.
Dear Teresa and all the Knircks and DeVines,
How sad we feel at the loss of Bill. He was a magnetic presence, kind and helpful at Malley’s. We felt we knew him from the frequent hellos and small talk with or without prescriptions. He was never too busy to reach out. We feel lucky to have known him, and we wish you comfort in the warm memories of your lives with him.
With love and sympathy,
Norma and Don Boswell
Dear Teresa,
While I haven’t seen you or Bill in years, I always think of you both very fondly. I don’t think I ever saw either of you without a big smile. Please pass on my regards to your parents. I’m just so saddened to hear of Bill’s death. Take care of yourself, may you go from strength to strength. Always, Barbara Franco Sherer
Every time I would take my mom out for a drive she would suggest a stop “to see if Bill is in the store”. I’ll always remember Bill’s smile from “behind the counter” at Malley’s. He will be greatly missed.
So sorry for your loss. I do remember Bill so well, though it was over 35 years ago.
Teresa, Jason, and Jocelyn,
I was so saddened by the news of Bill’s death. I remember him just as he looks in photo on this Webpage — laughing and happy and as the memorial says, ready to play practical jokes.
I will always remember the talks Bill and I had when I lived with you for a few months and he’d come home from a softball game. I really enjoyed those times. He was a good friend and a mentor for me — always giving me advice about boys.
I know you will really miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I love you. God Bless.
Anne
My sincere condolences to the family. Although I never met Bill, I’ve known his sister Sandi for over 20 years. I’ve heard lots of stories, I know he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Dear Teresa and family,
We have just come from the memorial service for Bill and it was very beautiful and fitting for the wonderful person he was. Bill loved life and he made life fun! He has touched so many people in this community so who could be surprised that the church was filled to overflowing. You both have been such an asset to our family. Bill is the only pharmacist we have had over the years, and of course, you have helped all of our kids get through Hanford High School. Our girls probably got to know Bill because you were their cheerleader advisor. They have many fond memories of the road trips with Bill and Teresa. You must have had your hands full keeping track of all those girls and Bill too! I’ve heard stories about how he kept them entertained and laughing.
Thank you for sharing Bill with all of the rest of us. We will miss seeing him at Malley’s. We will miss hearing his “cheering” at the Hanford games. He made the sports boosters meetings fun too! Richland is just going to miss Bill!
Please know that we love you and our thought and prayers are with you during this time. Hopefully we can all do as the Pastor asked today, live our lives more like Bill did. He was a great example of a friend to us all.
Love, Kent and Janet
Teresa, Jason, and Jocelyn – We are so sorry for your loss. We have so many wonderful memories of Bill over the years. He was a wonderful person and we are all so lucky to have known him. You are in our thoughts and prayers! Love, Sara, Roger, and Hilary
Bill was very helpful in providing items such as a wheelchair for my mother when she had a stroke a few years ago. I will always remember that kindness.
Our thoughts and prayers are heading your way. We’ll miss Bill’s wonderful smile and his sense of humor. I’m glad he was in our lives.
I will never forget Bill he was a wonderful individual and also my mentor. I worked with Bill as a tech at Pay-n-Save Pharmacy and it was then I decided to become a pharmacist. Bill was the true definition of a pharmacist: caring, giving and the loyal druggist behind the counter that could answer any question, he was also many things we dont think of like; funny, witty, happy and proud to be your pharmacist. I can remember so many days I would leave the pharmacy laughing so much my stomach hurt or ecstatic we did 200 scripts with just one pharmacist. One of my proudest moments was when I told Bill I actually graduated from Washington State Pharmacy School Class of 1985! I think he was as happy and excited for me as my parents.
When I would visit the Tri-Cites I would take a drive to Richland just by chance to visit my friend and catch-up on the good old times. It has been two years since I visited with Bill and I will never forget our conversation and his contagious smile!
God Bless the Knirck family.
A fellow pharmacist and grateful friend,
Kay Gydesen
Bill and Teresa has always been one name to me, not one without the other. To borrow a phrase from someone, they were the ones our mothers wanted us to be like and it was always just a little out of reach.
Bill certainly was one of God’s blessings. To be loved and respected in life by so many is such a tribute!
To the Knircks and DeVines, some of my favorite people through my life, I have you in my heart.
Bill, I hope you are surrounded by toy soldiers standing at attention.
Salute,
Diane
Always remembered how he helped us take care of my Parents, Mr & Mrs David Clark, and then husband Jim Perry, always helpful and concerned. All our Prayers go with the Family and May His Everlasting Peace be with you all. Love and Prayers
To The Family of Bill Knirck – I never saw Bill except through the loving eyes of my good friend Sandi. That his life has inspired this many beautiful and heartfelt tributes is itself an inspiration. Please accept my deepest sympathy.
You are a great example of what it is to be both a good person and a successful businessman. You will be truly missed. The Memorial Mass was nicely done and the strength of the family remarkable. We are honored to have taken part in it.
Kevin, Denise, and Tate Kautzky
Teresa and family—-we remember Bill as a good guy in a loving family–our prayers and love are with you–love karl and jean.
Bill was such a wonderful man, always so good to everyone he met. We appreciate his filling many prescriptions for us over the years and for delivering and setting up Ken’s hospital bed in our family room following his hip replacement surgery. Teresa and Family, you are in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers.
Teresa,Jocelyn,Jason&family,
I was so sad to hear of Bill’s passing. I remember the times in high school when he drove the “Wally Wagon” to football and basketball games.
Whenever I eat a maple bar, I think of Bill. He used to love them so!!
He was such a great support when I was recuperating from sugery. I will never forget his generosity.
He will be greatly missed.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Keep Smilin’ Bill!
Love,
Kathy Sammer
some of my special memories of Bill. Many times when Bill would be leaving my office and the lobby had people seating there, he would start giving instructions to sell a million shares of xyz and buy a million shares of abc.
Bill was one of my favorite clients because of how much fun he was, and also how much he cared for his emlpoyees. I can remember when we set up the new retirement plan he wanted to make sure all of the workers participated in the plan not just the ones who could afford to. Teresa the last visit we had together with Bill was special for me. I have never given a client a high five in the office before. His smile and laugh just made you feel better. I’ll miss him
As with so many others, I too was a loyal customer of Bill’s. Bill made my life easier in obtaining medication for my arthritis! Besides, I always support a fellow Bomber and Coug! Bill will be greatly missed by all!
Lee Bush
What sad news Lamont conveyed to us. I guess the depth of the sadness reflects the hieghts of gladness you shared together. How blessed to have such wonderful memories and relationship as you have had. Teresa, our heart-felt condolences. You’ve known such loss of great men so young in life. I know it’s time for us to start taking our turns, and as usual the best lead the way. But . . . well, thousands of words in the English language, and not one of them adequate. I like what Lamont said: Bill truly epitomized the best we could have given back to our community. Our love to you and your family. Please give a hug to your mother for me, okay?
P.S. What sort of mischief do you suppose Bill and Kenny are up to together? That must have been a wonderful reunion!
To Bill’s family, I express my heartfelt condolences and my prayers go out to you. Bill and I shared a common hobby and passion – toy soldiers. I met Bill in 1994 because of this hobby and on many occasions spent hours reviewing our “finds” and discussing toy soldiers. It was always a pleasure to receive a phone call from Bill or me calling him regarding something he or myself had come accross to add to our collections – we were like “little kids”. His friendship will be missed, but never forgotten. May God Bless You All. Dennis Sams.
My heart goes out to you all. I remember Bill as a happy endearing little boy. But through the years I heard from Ro and Sharon, in their love and pride, of what a very special person he was – of his accomplishments, his family – his activities and interests. He touched many lives. I remember how he treated my aging parents, when they came in for their medications, always with such cheerful respect and caring.
The beauty of his well-lived life will surely become a legacy that stays behind to warm your hearts Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your sorrow.

And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

Memories: Thank-You.. Reading these tributes to my brother has been salve to some very hurt hearts. He is the BEST. I am very lucky and Proud to call him my brother and my friend. Thanks to Teresa for being his life partner, to Jason & Jocelyn for being children he was so very proud of, to Mom & Dad for being the parents they are and to my sister Sandi for putting music in our lives. And to all the many people who loved him and laughed with him. With many loving memories Bill, Karen KEZ
As one of Bill’s “Malley’s/Densow’s
girls”, I will miss seeing him in
the stores so very much. He has been
a good friend for 24+ years as my
pharmacist and a fabulous boss these
past 2+ years.
Our thoughts and prayers go out
to the Knirck and DeVine families.
Thank you for sharing Bill with all
the rest of us. He will forever be
much loved.

Teresa and Family;

God Bless.
Sincerely,

Dennis Hammer

Our family, and especially our daughter Amy, will always cherish the time spent at the softball field with Bill and his family. Bill always had a word of encouragement to offer, and I often witnessed his ability to gently coax a smile from an athlete that was doing not so well. He had a way to bring out the best from “his girls.” A wonderful person both on the field and in business. A tough act to follow.
Although I didn’t get the opportunity to see Bill very often, everytime I did he made me laugh. Thinking of Bill will always make me smile.
Jim Toner
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Knirk family, Lori and Mike Hogan.
Bill, our “best-liked” friend and classmate, it’s been a privilege to know you. Happy trails till we meet again. A rotary duck will be floating down the river in your honor and memory!
So sorry for your loss
I’ll sure miss Bill and his jokes and teasing. My prayers are with you Teresa,Bill will be missed.
Jo
Teresa,
Sending prayers and good thoughts your way.
Love,
Maren
Bill Knirck…most certainly a “devoted father and husband.”
Gary Behymer from the Col-Hi Class of 1964
I knew Bill for 18 years. I got to know him best when he and Teresa signed up for a faculty trip to Ashland, Oregon that I had arranged for our staff at Hanford High. About 30 of us teachers and spouses spent three days watching Shakespeare plays, eating great food, and having lots of fun. I remember Bill as the “life of the party” not only on that trip, but in nearly every instance that I was around him. I will miss his smiling face, his “Hi, Mike” as I would enter Mally’s to pick up presciptions, and his laughter. My life is indeed richer for having known Bill Knirck. My heart goes out to Teresa, Jocelyn, Jason and his wife, and all who loved Bill. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
