Glenn grew up in the foothills of the North Dakota Badlands, where his love of horses was nurtured. He graduated as part or the class or 1930 from Killdeer High School and went on to earn a 2-year teaching certificate from North Dakota State Teacher's College. He taught for one year in a one-room schoolhouse in Beach, North Dakota. Talented in the art of pottery, he became a working partner of Lakewood Pottery in Denver, Colorado. While in Denver, Glenn also worked at Remington Arms as a Master Gaugeman.
He married Dorothy Tanberg in 1940 in Dickinson, North Dakota. He came out west to Richland, Washington in 1944 to work at the Hanford Project. Glenn worked at Hanford for 33 years starting as an Instrument Technician and culminated his career in supervisor positions.
Glenn's love or horses and his innate ability to work with them, continued throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors and was involved with the Boy Scouts as a leader for many years. Glenn got great enjoyment from watching his children participate in sports and spent many days on the baseball diamond as a coach in Richland youth baseball programs. He was a charter member of Richland Lutheran Church. A talented dancer, he found great joy in attending Senior Citizen Dances in his later years.
Glenn is survived by four children and their spouses; David and Joanne Stein or Puyallup, WA, Ray and Linda Stein or Spokane, WA, Gerald and Lovena Stein or Granbury TX, and Judy Mitchell or Walla Walla, WA. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Tim Stein and Sarah Trivett, Kim, Kristin, and Curt Stein, Tonya Mowrer, Adam and Spencer Stein, and Kelsey, Kyle and Ryan Mitchell; five great grandchildren: Levi, Chloe, and Lydia Mowrer, Senya Stein, and Victoria Trivitt.
