Carol Ann Thornton
04/21/1950 — 01/30/2003
From Richland, WA, US | Born in Richland, WA
Carol Ann Thornton
Carol Ann Thornton, 52, died Thursday, January 30, 2003, at her home with those she loved, her son at her side and family near by.
Carol grew up and lived most of her life in Richland. One of three daughters, she was preceded in death by her father Edward E. Thornton and is survived by her cherished mother Elizabeth Thornton, her two beloved sisters Ellen Thornton and Monica Hayes and brother in-law, Michael Bishop. She also leaves behind one son, Matthew Thornton, whom she was very proud of.
As a child Carol attended Christ the King Grade School and graduated from Richland High School class of 1968. She had many creative talents, an eye for design and was full of artistic flair.
Carol was a gifted cosmetologist and practiced briefly in Dallas Texas, Renton, and Spokane, but mostly worked in various local shops. A kind, generous and loving spirit, Carol lived life full of passion, and her witty sense of humor and company will be sadly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 8, 2003 at Christ The King Catholic Church with a reception following.
Memorial may be made to Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice, 2108 W. Entiat Avenue, Kennewick, WA 99336. Arrangements made by Einans Funeral Home.
To the Thorton family, I am so sorry for your loss of Carol. We went to high schol together and what stands out most to me was her great sense of humor. We were always up for a good laugh when she was around. She had a great smile and always was the same. We also went to beauty school, but never had the chance to work together. Although we wer’nt real close, I would often see her in the grocery store and we would spend a few minutes catching up. I ‘ll always remember her fondly with Shelia, and how much those two meant to each other. They were quite a pair. I often envied the fun they had together. My condolences again to her son and mom and sisters. I know you will miss her. We will too, as this is the year for our next class reunion and she was always a friendly smile in the crowd. God be with you all, Janis Tames

To Carol’s family–I am so sorry to hear that Carol has passed away. I remember her best as a lively younger sister to my high school pal, Monica. I remember Carol’s laugh–she seemed to find humor in so many situations. I was lucky enough to see the whole Thornton family in 2000, when Monica, Mike and I attended a reunion at Richland High School. I will treasure my memories of you all from that time. My thoughts are with you. Sincerely, Ellen Spitaleri

Matt, Ellen and Family,
I am very sorry to hear about Carol. I worked with Carol at Lively Look when I lived in Richland.Matt, I even cut your hair when your mom didn’t want to, she said your blonde hair was so hard to cut, it always showed the cut marks for her lol.You were just a little boy then. She was a really fun person. I loved working with her.We used to go out and have the most fun together. I was asking someone about her last month, I haven’t seen or heard from her since I moved to Oregon in 1984.I am very sorry, she will be missed very much. She was like my sister.I loved her, please take care and know she is in peace now and in Gods arms love, Roxanne

I loved her and she use to fix my hair..I was just down there too and sorry I missed seeing her.. God Bless…love and prayers.. I moved hear 4 years ago and lost alot of contact..
Monica and family sorry to hear of your loss. I didn’t know Carol but just listening to Moncia talk about her I know she was loved very much by all of you. I know this was a long hard battle she had to endure. I am sure it meant a great deal to her to have her family with her. I am sorry I never had the chance to meet her, maybe she could have saved me a lot of bad hair days by doing my hair. Marc and I will be thinking of you on Saturday with prayers in our heart.
May your faith in God help you through this hard time knowing that Carol is no longer in pain and in a much better place! Peace of Christ be with your family.

Carol’s Family
I am so sorry for not being at Carol’s memorial service, had I know I definatly would have been there. I am grateful to another high school friend of ours, Jeri Sandberg, for calling me today and letting me know, as she did not see me at the service. Carol and I last spoke at Wal-Mart in an isle for over an hour….laughing and joking, as usual. She was sharing her pride and joy, Matthew, by telling me all about attending U of W…..whatever you do Matthew, please grant your mom that wish of hers and follow through with school.
Mrs. Thornton, Monica,Ellen, and Matthew…she loved you all very much. I will always remember her wonderful sense of humor,as I can still hear her voice and laughter in my mind. She was a very special and generous woman. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. May you find peace in the coming days.
Ellen, I just wanted to express my sorrow for you and your family with the loss of your sister. I know how precious sisters are. When I saw her picture, I could see that she was a very pretty, caring, and fun loving woman who, no doubt, brought much joy to her family. There is nothing I can say to ease the pain, but only to offer my prayers that God will be with all of you and comfort you.
Our deepest sympathies to Carol’s family and friends.
Our love and prayers are with you.

Dear Mrs.Thornton,Matthew,
Ellen, and Monica,
Carol was a very important part in our lives. We’ve missed her over the years but have never forgotten the special memories we’ve shared with her in the past. She will continue to live in our hearts and we will never forget this unrepeatable portion in our lives that she will always be a part of.
We Love you Carol and will miss you dearly. A prayer for you Carol.
God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be so he closed His arms around you and whispered. “Come to Me”.
You didn’t deserve what you went through and so He gave you rest. God’s garden must be beautiful. He only takes the best. And when I saw you sleeping so peaceful and free from pain I could not wish you back to suffer that again.
You’re all in our thoughts during this time of sadness.
God Bless you Carol, We Love You, Nancy and Bob Foreman and Family
I was touched by the lovely photo of my dear friend Monica’s sister, because it reflects a beautiful spirit.
Although I never met her, I am blessed to know Monica and know that anyone in her family has to be very, very special.
I am a Theravada Buddhist and will ask my minister to include Carol in their prayers.
I do believe that Ernest Holmes, founder of Religious Science, was correct when he said, “When I die, I will be the last to know it.”
My prayers are with your family.
Sincerely,
karen mallick
May it ease your sorrow to know that others share in your loss. God Bless You.
