Maynard G. Dunn
Maynard George Dunn, 76, former resident of Richland, WA died on January 14, 2003 in Carmichael, CA. He was born May 31, 1926 in Algona, Iowa.
He enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and served honorably in the Pacific until January 1946. After completing his education in Iowa, he moved to the state of Washington and was employed by GE at the Hanford Engineering Works Nuclear Division at Richland. He transferred to GE's Vallecitos site in 1959, living in Livermore, California for 8 years before transferring to San Jose, California where he lived at the time of his retirement in 1989.
In 1994, Mr. Dunn returned to Richland, Washington where he enjoyed golfing and traveling. Always interested in Veteran's affairs, he served as VFW Cook-Erickson Post 7952 Commander from 1955-56 and VFW District 17 Commander from 1956-57. He again served as the Commander of VFW Cook-Erickson Post 7952 from 1996-97.
Mr. Dunn was married for 41 years to wife, Mary Lee Taylor. They divorced 7 years ago. In the spring of 2002, he returned to California to be near his children and grandchildren who visited him frequently.
Maynard is Survived by his two children, daughter Gail Lorenzen of Santa Rosa, California and son, Edward K. Dunn and daughter-in-law, Susan of El Dorado Hills, California and three grandchildren, Sean Dunn, Adam and Amanda Lorenzen. He is survived by 16 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
He was Preceded in death by his parents, George and Bessie Dunn and six siblings: brothers Jerome Dunn, Kelsey Dunn, John Dunn, and Leonard Dunn and sisters Mona Hobbs and Marge Christiansen.
Friends may call at Einans Funeral Home on Saturday from 9 to 3pm and on Sunday from 1 to 5pm.
Funeral Services will be held at Christ The King Catholic Church, Monday, January 20, 2003 at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Richland.
Remembrances may be made to your local VFW Post or the Cook-Erickson Post 7952 Richland, Washington.

Just wanted to say I’m sorry I am not able to make it to your dad’s service. I was looking forward to meeting you in person and seeing your aunt Rose again. I also appreciated all the help you have been in getting us the service details so quickly.
