Betty May Dean
11/06/1928 — 02/03/2003
From Richland, WA, US | Born in Terre Haute, Indiana
Betty May Dean
Betty Dean went to her home in heaven on February 3rd, 2003 at the age of seventy-four after an extended illness. She was a beautiful, smart, loving daughter, mother and grandmother. Her friends and family will dearly miss her.
Betty was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on November 6, 1928. She grew up on a farm, married and moved to Arizona. Betty had three children and became a successful district manager for Avon, retiring after more than thirty years with the company. She traveled the world and had many, many friends. Betty was a first class seamstress, sewing custom clothing for Saks Fifth Ave. in the seventies and was a model in her twenties. She also played a mean boogie woogie piano! She was awarded lifetime membership in the Phi Beta Psi Tucson chapter, Sigma Kappa sorority after twenty-five years of service. Her sorority primarily funds cancer research. She was a long-term member of the American Business Womens Association ABWA, and a 35-year member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Tucson. Living most of her life in Arizona, she was a die-hard University of ArizonaWildcats fan! Betty had been living in the Tri-Cites for a year and a half to be near her family when she passed. Betty was a ''class act'' from start to finish and we are truly blessed with her memories.
She is survived by her mother Louise Davis, still thriving at 98, her brother Charles Davis, her son David Barnes, her daughter Pam Bowman, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father Loran Joe Davis, her son Douglas Evans, and her brother Ted Davis.
Betty's memorial services will be held outdoors on Saturday, February 8th, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland, WA. God will never let you be shaken or moved from your place near His heart. His joy is a light that fills you with hope, faith, and love.
My Dearest Aunt Betty,
I will always cherish our wonderful memories together. I’m so happy that we had our last hours together, talking about some of those memories. Like the time I snuck away in the back seat of your car to spend the night with Pam! And you making us kids laugh with your monkey faces, and black olives on your fingers! You were great fun!
And you had SO much style! So striking, and petite, with your beautiful black hair and finely taylored clothes, made by you. Beautiful inside and out. I will miss you, and think of you, reunited with your brother, my dad, and our sweet little Doug. Whom you mourned, inwardly, your whole life, as we all still do.
I know we were all in your heart in the end, and you will be in our hearts, and memories forever…
Love, Brenda
I have many fond memories of Betty. She spent many Christmas Eve’s at our house. When she was working for Avon, she would give us many wonderful Avon products all wrapped up so beautifully. Another memory I have is Betty coming over to help me one afternoon right after I had my back injury. We ended up watching a movie together. If, I remember correctly, we watched ‘My Fair Lady’. Whenever I could I also enjoyed hearing stories of her girlhood on the Indiana farm.
She was a special lady and I will miss her.
God bless her and all of you. I send you all my love,
Jacque
My Prayers are with all of the family in this time of need and she will be surely missed.
I have many fond childhood memories with Betty, Pam and Doug. We would visit them or often they would come to our house our house. We went on trips together. We always had much fun.
We will miss you, Betty!
I will miss seeing this always beautiful woman in church. She was always so happy to see me, and I to see her. I have wonderful, and crazy memories of Betty trying to raise me and the rest of Pam’s friends. I will pray that she is also with my Mom and they are guiding us thru our lives. I love you Pam!
Goodnight Mother,
I will always love you!
I first met Betty 27 years ago when she was a District Manager for Avon. We became good friends immedately. A few years later she approached me about joining a Sorority that raised money for Cancer Research and on June 23, 1984 I along with Betty and five more ladies became Charter Members of Sigma Kappa Chapter. Betty and I always remained close friends. We shared a love for the U of A Wildcats and talked about the team almost every time we saw each other. I will truly miss my friend, but I also have many fond memories of her wit and her beautiful smile. She will always be a “Real Lady” to me.
I have so many wonderful memories of the times we had together as a family. I think of the time when we drove them to Terre Haute, and David sang “Santa Catalina” and almost drove us nuts. We had a lot of laughs together — and went through some bad times too — but there was never a disagreeable word between us in all of the years we were together. I miss her so much already — but I know she is at home with our Lord — and at peace. She was one in a million — and I’ll always think of her with love. She was the best sister-in-law any one could ever ask for.
See you when I get to heaven. Save me a spot!!!!!

Betty was a special lady. We will all miss her. She was a wonderful sorority sister and friend. She had great wit and at parties she would always come up with some coment and make us all laugh.
Pam – My prayers are with you and your family. I was always very fond of your Mom and will miss her when I visit the family for holidays. Betty always had such a sweet smile and oh how I loved her hugs. She was one of my best fans always laughing at the silliest of my jokes or antics. I know she is home now.
May you be dancing among the angels. Until we see one another again…..rest peacefully.
Our friend betty was an
exceptional human

To the family of Betty, I have only the best memories of my cousin. I admired her beauty, grace and her smile as I remember from so many years ago when I was just a kid. She was a real kick and had a wonderful personality. My most sincere thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
To Pam and David,
Your Mother was an inspiration to all those who knew her. I was a Sorority sister of Betty’s for many years and she will be missed very much. Our love and prayers to you and your families.

Betty always lit up room and we always looked forward to a visit.
Fond memory as a kid Betty, Rosie, David, Pam, Greg, & Brenda all piled into the ’56 Ford station wagon for the cross country trip to the Grandma & Grandpa’s farm.
Betty, what a wonderful and beautiful lady she was. We had many fun hours together, Betty, Rosie and I. When I think of her, she is always smiling. She was a hard worker, but took time out for fun. She is now home with the Father where she is whole again and at peace.
I feel blessed to have known her.
