I told my sister, Jackie, that it kind of took my breath away when I read Karen’s note and realized Blanche is gone, even though we had forewarning. Although I knew your mom and dad mostly through my parents, your mom was a sort of pillar in my life… one of those people I have admired and respected if only from afar, someone who has always been there as long as I can remember. Now that pillar is gone… and all the more for you!… but I am reminded that her foundation… and yours and mine… has always been Jesus, that solid Rock upon which we stand. His oath, His covenant and blood, support us in the whelming flood; when every earthly prop gives way, He then is all our Hope and Stay. On Christ, the solid Rock we stand, all other ground is sinking sand.
I learned from my mom in her later years that Dad had considered Karl the finest friend he had. He held great respect for your dad and was especially encouraged by your dads faith, integrity and witness. Both my parents had the highest regard for both your parents.
Blanche Gunnette was a good and faithful friend for Mom over all the years, and in her letters and occasional phone conversations she was always a strong witness and encourager in the faith. Even from afar, I shall miss her. It seems that she touched a lot of lives, including mine. In spite of the fact that she was more a friend of my parents than of me, I feel now like a part of me is gone. But this we have to hang on to: there will come that day of joyful reunion before the Lamb! When here our pathways part, we suffer bitter pain; Yet, one in Christ and one in heart, we hope to meet again. This glorious hope revives our courage by the way, while each in expectation lives and longs to see the Day. From sorrow, toil and pain, and sin we shall be free and perfect love and friendship reign through all eternity.
We share our mutual woes, our mutual burdens bear, and often for each other flows the sympathizing tear Romans 12:15. You and your families are in our prayers.
Our hope, of course, rests upon Jesus’ own resurrection and promises.
John 11:25 Hebrews 10:23

Blanche was a sister in Christ to all she met. We will miss her smile and gentel spirit. Goodbye sweet angel! We love you, and God has blessed us, to have known you.
Blanche Gunnette has always been such a loving presence in my life; she will remain in my heart forever. Jackie
Blanche brought joy to everyone. She beamed with the light of her savior Jesus Christ. I will always think of her as the Mother Teresa of our congregaton. She will dearly be missed. Our prayers are with her family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this trying time. I will always hold the memories of our family holidays in Michigan dear to my heart. It is so easy to close my eyes and see us all as we were, just enjoying the day. Aunt Blanche, my Dad and Gram had a bond and such special love for each other. I can only hope that I can repeat that love in my life.
When my father and brother to Blanche, Alfred Hansen passed away I ask my Aunt Blanche to write me something about their childhood etc. This was for me to have about my dad. I received this 4 page written letter from Blanche describing things they did growing up, my dad getting in trouble, and dad teaching Blanche how to drive. This letter was and is the most wonderful item anyone could have given me about my dad and I will always cherish it. Thank you Aunt Blanche and I will see you later. All my love, Becky
Everyone who knew my Grandma Gunnette loved her. She was gentle and kind, and still called me “Pumpkin” even though I’m 35 years old. She will be dearly missed.
One of my earliest memories of Grandma was when I was about four years old and we visited her in Michigan. I remember her making a cake, and she must have made a double batch, because she gave us a big bowl of batter to lick from. I remember thinking what a great grandmother she was to let us have so much! And she was. Grandma never forgot a birthday or a holiday, and still sent a thank-you note faster than anyone I knew.
Grandma, you will be missed. Aunt Karen, Kathy and Mom — I am sorry for the loss of your Mom.
Hugs to you all,
Julie

Dear Blanche…You stand as one of my role models as to how I would like to live my life. May I too show as much of my Savior’s love in my relationships with others as you did. The greatest gift someone could give me when I leave this earth is for them to say that they wanted to love Jesus the way I do, and accept Him as Lord. I do say that to you, dear Blanche, and I look forward to the day when we’ll meet once again at His throne. Dearest Karen and family…. my heart goes out to you at this time but I know you, too, celebrate her wonderful life. May our Lord grant you special comfort moments of grace and peace in the days ahead.
