From Pasco, WA, US | Born in Provo, Utah
David Lamar Scott
David Lamar Scott, loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother as well as a long time Richland resident passed away February 22, 2003 at his home in Pasco, surrounded by his family. Dave went to be with his Heavenly Father after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dave was born to Margaret Ruth and Wright Marcus Scott on August 4, 1940 in Provo, UT. He was the second of four children. He lived most of his childhood in Utah. When he was 12 years old he witnessed the Air Force B-36, flying out of Roswell New Mexico, drop nuclear weapons in the Nevada desert on exercises during the early period of the cold war. In 1954 the family moved to Hawthorne California. Dave attended Hawthorne high school, and graduated in June of 1958. He was then accepted into the Chemical Engineering program at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. Because of his determination and hard work; Dave graduated with a BS degree in 1963, and obtained his Masters degree in Chemical Engineering a few years later.
In 1962 Dave's first marriage blessed him with 5 daughters: Cindy, Lori, Shelley, Jennifer and Stephanie. In the early 1970's he moved his family to Richland Washington to begin working in the nuclear industry. In August of 1984 David Scott and Kathie Kreutz were married bringing an additional seven children into the family: Tod, Jeff, Kristi, Shawna, Scott, Brian, and Chad.
Dave worked for many DOE/Hanford contractors in the Hanford Area for over 30 years. He was also a master carpenter and created many beautiful pieces of furniture for his home and for others.
Dave was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Richland Stake. He had a very strong testimony and was easily moved to shed tears at sacrament meetings. He loved his family, enjoyed working in his woodshop, going to the mountains, getting out for evening walks and singing or listening to the church hymns. Even at the end of his life he was singing the hymns with his wife and daughters. He was a very loving, brilliant man and will be - greatly missed.
He left behind his loving wife of 18 years, Kathie, and eleven children: Cynthia John Stapleton, Lori Nick Lavender, Michael Tod Christine Kreutz, Jeff Becky Kreutz, Shelley Tom Ellis, Jennifer Maree Jason Hancock, Stephanie Lewis Jeffs, Kristi Espinosa, Shawna Scott Suemori, Brian Hilary Kreutz, and Chad Kathryn Kreutz, as well as 22 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Margaret Sturzenegger, his brothers William Sturzenegger, Larry Scott, Mondell Scott and his sister Judy Looney.
He is proceeded in death by his father Wright Marcus Scott, stepfather Murray Sturzenegger, and step-son Scott Kreutz.
Viewing to be held on Tuesday February 25,2003, at Einan's funeral home from 4-8 pm . Services to be held on Wednesday February 26,2003, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Stake center on Thayer Dr. at 11 :00 am. My fondest memory of my dad was when he would play with my kids. He had such a way of making them feel very special. I will miss him greatly.
Kathie, please accept mine and Bonnies condolences. We pray that Heavenly Father will bless you and the family at this time of loss. I always admired David, and wish that I had known him better. He had many traits that I wish I had.

I just wanted your family to know we were thinking of you. Cindy and I spent a lot of time together in Young Womens. I remember David as being a quiet, but humble man and appreciate the chance to have known him. Thinking of you.
