Paul Edward Cunningham, a Tri-Cities resident for 59 years, passed away on Sunday, February 09, 2003 at Southridge Specialized Care in Kennewick. He was 93.

Paul was born August 14, 1909, the youngest of three children, in Dallas City, IL to Clyde E. and Nellie F. Cunningham. The family moved to Colorado in 1917 where his father found employment at the Louviers DuPont explosive plant.

Paul graduated from Douglas County High School in Castle Rock in 1928 and began his college education in Electrical Engineering at Colorado State College in Fort Collins. The depression cut his college short and he returned to Louviers to work for DuPont.

He married Ruth Breselow, his childhood sweetheart, of Castle Rock in 1936. The couple moved to Bridgeport, CT in 1941 for Paul's training with Remington Arms and returned to Denver where he worked as a supervisor at the Denver Remington Arms ordinance plant.

Paul and Ruth, like so many Richland residents, moved with their infant son to Richland in the summer of 1944 where Paul began his career at Hanford as an instrument mechanic during the startup of the instrumentation systems. He retired in 1974 as Manager of Power and Services in the 200 Areas.

He was an active member of Central United Protestant Church for many years and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and working with his hands.

Ruth preceded him in death on August 15,2002.

He is survived by his son Clifford and his wife Carol of Napa, CA; grandson Joseph and his wife, Susan, of Petaluma, CA; granddaughter Elizabeth of Napa, CA; nieces in Littleton, CO and Bellevue, WA and nephews in San Rafael, CA and Silver Springs, MD.

A gravesite memorial service for both Paul and Ruth will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday March 22, 2003 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland.
