From Richland, WA, US | Born in Spokane, Washington
Kathleen M. Weible
KATHLEEN M. WEIBLE
Kathleen M. Weible, 53, of Richland, WA passed away Tuesday, March 4th, 2003 at her home after an extended courageous fight with breast cancer. Kathy was born October 16, 1949 in Spokane, Washington to Frederick N. and Dora P. Hansen Jaeger. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Kathy is survived by her husband Gary; daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Bill Uran; son and daughter-in-law Chris and Shaunti Weible. She is survived by her sister Patsy Crowe and two brothers David and John Jaeger. Kathy has a granddaughter Abigail and a soon to be born grandson. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Kathy spent her childhood in Rosalia, WA and graduated from Rosalia High School in 1968. She married Gary Weible on August 17, 1968. After living in Gresham and Walla Walla, Kathy and Gary settled in Richland in 1975. Kathy worked at several jobs: managing the Luther Senior Center, working in Outpatients at Kadlec Medical Center, and most recently, working at Hanford Environmental Health Foundation for 21 years. She loved her job at HEHF as a Computer Support Specialist where she was able to work with, talk to, and help people with their computer problems.
Kathy was involved with many activities. She was always active in her children's projects or sports and was a great believer in education. She regularly attended a wide variety of classes at Columbia Basin Community College. She was involved in many community projects, and loved volunteering at Richland Lutheran Church, especially Good News Media Ministry, even during this last year with her illness. Kathy loved to travel, read a good novel, needle point, go to Las Vegas, and be with her family and good friends. Kathy loved life and looked forward to being a grandmother.
A public graveside service will be held on Friday, March 7th, at 1:00 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland. A memorial service will follow at Richland Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be Thursday, March 6th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Einan's Funeral Home.
Kathy wanted memorial contributions to be given to the Richland Lutheran Church Retreat Center, C/O Richland Lutheran Church, 901 Van Giesen, Richland, WA 99352.
Kathy was a lovely spirited person and will be remembered for her beauty both inside and out.
To Kathy’s family,
I have worked at HEHF for as long as Kathy but got to know her best at Hanford Square. We would sometimes spend more than a few minutes reminising about all those who had come and gone while we plugged along. She was an asset to the company and her co-workers. She set an example of grace and dignity during her illness that I can only hope to attain if challenged as she was. God has blessed her and those who knew her.
My sympathies,
Jackie Morfeld
I worked with Kathy at HEHF. She and I would be at work very early and watch the sun rise over the river in the mornings. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. I will miss her beautiful smile.
I so enjoyed working with Kathy the past 9 years. Her patience, great sense of fun, and positive attitude helped me through many “computer illiterate moments”. Steve and I are very grateful for the special and fun times we shared with Gary and Kathy.
Kathy, thank you for being our friend.
Gary, Pam, Chris & families,
What a blessing it was to have known Kathy. As I walked down the hallway of RLC just this morning, everywhere I turned, I saw her touch. She was such a vital part of our congregation — a true treasure. I especially enjoyed serving with Kathy on the call committee recently. I’ll never forget one meeting we had; I came in & sat next to Kathy as usual, she simply said, “Guess what!” It was readily apparent by the grin on her face that grandparenthood was on the way! She was so thrilled to be a grandmother!
I also recall with fondness the years that we were neighbors. I know that during those years, my mother also truely enjoyed knowing Kathy and the rest of the family, too!. She always had a smile, “hi!” and a wave when in the yard.
I will miss Kathy. She was a beautiful lady on the inside and the out. Peace to you all.
I played soccer with her son Chris on Mr. Hudson team
My families thoughts and prayers are with the family members
All though I didn’t get to work with Kathy for a long period of time, her sweet demeanor and expert knowledge in the computer area always made me feel at ease. She was always there with a big smile and helping hand when I needed her. She will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to Kathy and her family and friends.
My thoughts, prayers and memories go out to all of the Weible Family.
Kathy was a great person to work with, a joy to be around, and always could but a smile on your face.
I worked with Kathy at HEHF for 18 years. I will miss her. I remember the fun we had in the dancercize class at Spalding school. Pam, I believe you participated in the class also. Other things that stand out about Kathy were the positive contributions she made to our work environment. She was passionate about helping the March of Dimes and Reading Foundation. She either chaired or co-chaired the fundraising drives at HEHF. She gave me her cool lavendar hat, which I cherish. May your memories of Kathy comfort you now and in the future.
Kathy brought joy to my life as a coworker at HEHF these past 19 years. While I miss her, I know from our Christian faith that she is walking with our Lord.
I knew Kathy at HEHF from 1991 to 2000. We worked in the same department. She was sweet, funny and caring. She always made me feel like a good mother even though I worked. She shared her love of Christ with me and I will ALWAYS appreciate those talks. I loved her emails over the past two years since I left HEHF. She kept me up-to-date on her travels, health issues, and the news of her becoming a grandmother was the BEST. My heartfelt condolences to her family. May God show you all peace, comfort and love…now, and always.
Love,
Toni
Kathy was a wonderful coworker and friend. We enjoyed many a discussion about the Mariners together. She was always ready to listen to the latest escapade by my young son, Cody. Kathy was an inspiration to me as she fought her cancer battle with spirit and dignity. Goodbye Kathy, we will miss your smiling face. Kathy and her family are in our prayers.
Kathy touched many lives. Her warm and caring attitude reflected in all that she did. Her sense of humor was well appreciated as well.
I will miss her greatly, but know that she has gone home to be with her creator where I may be able to see her again.
God Bless Kathy — you did make a difference!
I worked with Kathy at HEHF and she will be greatly missed for her laughter and sense of humor. She was a lady with lots of intellengce and a big heart. See you in the heavens Kathy.
Kathy was my best friend at Rosalia. We were like sisters doing the stupidest things I certainly never told my mom about. My heart goes out to all her family. I know I will certainly miss her e-mails, cards, and Christmas letters. She was one cool chick!!!
My heart is saddened for such a great loss. Kathy was my friend, my co-worker
oom mate, and my mentor. Our thought and prayers are with her family at such a difficult time. I will always treasure the memories. GOD BLESS
Kathy was a very special person, a good friend and co-worker. Although I didn’t have the opportunity to know her for a very long time, she always treated me like a lifelong friend. I feel very blessed to have known her. She will have a lasting impact on us all, and although we miss her terribly here, I am comforted to know that God has called her Home.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Kathy. I enjoyed her friendship over the last 8 years of association with her at H.E.H.F.
She will be sorely missed, and the family is in our prayers..
Kathy, I have such fond memories of the fun times you and I have had together-shows, etc. lots and lots of giggles. I am so lucky to have had such a good friend to share all this with. Gary, you and your family are in our prayers everyday. God Bless all of you–Jim & Paula
Gary and family,
I have worked with Kathy at HEHF for 21 years. I can’t tell you how much we have missed her these past few months after she went on leave. Besides being a good person to work with, she was a good person to be with. My fondest and most recent memory is when she traveled to a Seattle Mariner game with 4 of us from HEHF last May. We had such a great time and I am so thankful that I had a chance to share the day with her. Of course Kathy and I were quite opinionated when it came to the Mariners and who Pinella should or should not play. We were great bench coaches or so we thought. For 6 months out of the year, we talked and lived Mariners. Before the Mariners, it was the Richland Bombers that we lived, breathed and discussed. I will always cherish her friendship and the good times we had. Kathy was a kind and wonderful person. I will miss her so much.
Our hearts are sadden with the loss of Kathy. She has been a dear friend, we will treasure the wonderful memories and fun times we’ve shared. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. We feel honored to have had Kathy in our life.
God Bless
Gary and family,
We are so sorry to hear about Kathy. She was a lovely person, and I’m so glad that Kathy and I had a good visit when Gary and I had our last class reunion. Gary, we wish you and your family strength, courage and peace during the coming year.
Gary,
I never know what to say, you would think that being in this business we would know all the right things to say but it doesn’t seem to work that way. I send all my sympathy and condolences to you and your family. It must be very difficult to sit on the other side of the desk.
Your Dodge Man,
Bill
I will remember Kathy as a kind and gracious person who had the gift of making everyone feel comfortable, like an old friend, even if she had just met them. May she rest peacefully in God’s loving arms and her family take comfort in their memories.
Dear Mrs. Uran,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Sincerely,
Quinton, Ellie, Leslie & Jeff
Kathy was a wonderful, warm, sweet person and I so wish I had not missed her at the hospital that evening before she left us. My heart goes out to those so close to her who will be missing her the most. She would want to comfort them and let them know that she is in a wonderful different place now. My prayers go to her family right now to have the strenth they need to make do without her in this world.
With fond remembrance, Hiltraud Volk
You’ll be missed by all who knew you. We love you, Mom and Dad Thomas. Good-bye
Mrs. Uran and family, We are sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. From the many wonderful entries listed here, sounds like she was a very lovely lady. Our sincerest sympathies.
Mrs. Uran and family, Thinking of you and your family at this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Your students
I was so sorry to hear about Kathy’s passing – she was such a joy! She was one of my most favorite people at HEHF when I worked there. She was a wonderful, caring spirit who was always so positive and enjoyable to visit with. My fondest memory is my baby shower – she gave me the quilt that my daughter carried for years. In fact, it was so tattered, we had to cut it into a small square for “safe” keeping. I think of Kathy every time I see that piece of blanket that my daughter Bria could never let go of! What a great loss! I’ll miss you Kathy! I can’t get the time off to be at the funeral but my heart will sure be there! My love always – Doreen DePalo
My prayers go to the family. Kathy was such a kind and generous person, she will be sorely missed. An example of her generosity and fun spirit was once I was behind her in line at the Coffee Bean though I didn’t know it and when I pulled up to the window, they informed me that my coffee had already been purchased. She was always doing wonderful little gestures like that. God Bless.
Bless you Gary and family. Our thoughts and prayers are for you. Kathy was so special and was truly an inspiration to our daughter Angie. Take care.
It was so neat to see these pictures of one of the nicest people I know. Kathy was a second Mom to me and helped Chris and me stay out of too much trouble. I have very fond memories of visiting Gary and Kathy after Chris was off to college and how excited she was to see me and catch up. I regard Chris as one of my best friends while I was growing up and his mom was a big part that. I am so sorry that I can’t be at the funeral service tomorrow. My condolences to all who will miss her.
I remember when Kathy was diagnosed, her and I were both attending CBC. We started working out together. We would have the best talks while we walked on the treadmills and stared out the windows. She had so many questions about her illness. I was able to answer some of these questions because I cared for my aunt when she had breast cancer. I also worked with her at HEHF. Even though I came and went several times with the company, her and I remained friends. She had such a positive outlook on life, I loved being around her. She kept me motivated in school and in life. She really was a blessing on earth and it’s a better place because of her. Her smiles always made my day just a little better. I would often visit her office just to sneak one of them or to have a few laughs. Even though she was battling for her life she remained in good spirits and that’s what made her so unique and special. I will truly miss her.
Remember to keep smiling, because I know that’s what Kathy is doing.
With deepest sympathy,
April =
To the Weible Family-
I got to know Kathy when she would frequently come to HS-1 to rescue me from computer problems. I very quickly discovered her gift for not only fixing computers but also for brightening a tough day with a hug, a smile, a joke and some girl talk. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and will continue to be during this difficult time.
“Each life is a miracle that changes the world….and leaves it a better place than it was before”.
Kathy-I look forward to seeing you again in heaven. Love Julie
Kathy, dear friend of mine, whom I enjoyed working with for 12 years at HEHF. She was such a kick working with all of us lab rats at the 747Building in Richland. She delt with alot of different personalities and all the craziness that went along with all of her duties in the 747 building.
Her stories, jokes, bright cheery smile will be missed by all. Kathy, you will live on in my memory.
Dear Gary and Family: I cannot truly express all my feelings about Kathy’s death. She was such a special lady. I am so thankful we had lunch together several weeks ago and that I saw her in the hospital. She had such courage and an upbeat attitude. I will miss her in so many ways.
I am part of Kathy’s HEHF family and I can still see her coming to rescue us after receiving one of our “SOS” computer calls – her glasses perched on her nose and asking “Yes?” with her famous smile. I’m sure God spent a little extra time when making Kathy. May He fill your heart, give you strength and comfort you.
I have known Kathy since I came to work at HEHF in 1991. She made so many wonderful contributions to this company through her generous giving of time to such projects as the Reading Foundation, the annual March of Dimes fundraisers and many other such charitable causes. At work she was always someone you could go to when you had a problem, whether it was computer-related or you just needed a good hug. During her fight with cancer, she remained a kind and loving person. She gave me some of her hats she wore after her first recovery, and I still wear them with kind thoughts of her. I also remember the chats we had about her pets and my cats. She often referred to me as “catwoman” and I loved her for doing so. It was just one of the many things she did that made her a gem. I will never forget seeing her fly down the street in her dashing, new, red Mercedes Benz convertible. What a wonderful gift she had for living!!
She has taught me so many things, but mainly that life is wonderful and that your health is something you must NEVER take for granted. I check myself regularly as a result of knowing what can happen if you don’t take care of yourself. Thank You, Kathy. You will live forever in my heart.
We feel honored to have sat in front of Kathy and Gary at church for the past many years. Kathy was always so happy to see what the children had drawn during the service. Her praise and loving comments always made Ben and Elizabeth feel very special. We will miss her beautiful smile, friendly handshake, caring words and all of the care she gave to the church. Our hearts and prayers are with her family.
Love,
Vickie, Greg, Jenny, Ben and Elizabeth Kelly
Kathy was such a great person! I remember fondly how she could help me see the good in things. When my kids acted up in church, Kathy would smile and remind me to treasure these times! That sentiment means more than she could have known!
Mom is what I called Kathy in High-School. She was my second Mom and I will always remember her. I had just run into her with Gary at Christmas dinner and she was oh so joyful and beautiful as always! I will always remember singing “Ka-Ka-Ka-Katie” to Katie the dog, with her and Pamela in the kitchen.
Gary, Pamela and C.W., I am sorry for your loss and may God’s strength be with you all!
With all my love and compassion,
Kelli Kelli Jo as she always called me
Kathy was my coworker and friend. I loved her zest for life and classy style. She helped me so much to see the good side of life. When she entered a room her presence filled it with sunshine. Her wit and humor brightened many of my days. I will really miss her. I know she is dancing in the midst of glory and I when I get there, I can’t wait to dance with her.
Love, Annette Coonfield
I have worked with Kathy at HEHF for 12 years. We had many great times together. Our last outing was a Mariner game last May. We all had such a great time together. I will miss her smiling face and quick laughter. My heart goes out to her family in this time of great sorrow.
While in high school years ago, I was fortunate to have landed a job working directly with Kathy at HEHF. She was a mentor for me not only in the workplace, but in life. Kathy had a huge heart and a loving smile. I will treasure the many laughs we shared. My thoughts and prayers go out to Gary, Pam and Chris.
I’ll miss you Kathy.
Sincerely, your “Angie-Pangie”
I first met Kathy when I started working for HEHF. She was so great to work with and fun to be around. I will miss her.
Kathy, I nicknamed you “Katarina” when we were talking about the movie, “Dr Zhivago.” You shared many fun, giggly times at HEHF. I will fondly remember working out at the fitness room at CBC. I enjoyed the women’s catalog and learned how to order clothes from you. I remember the lunches and sharing the good news or news where someone needed help. I will remember you fondly and can picture you up in heaven. I enjoyed the phone chats and emails, especially the funny or educational ones.
Gary, Chris and Pamela, I can fondly remember how animated Kathy would be talking about her love for you.
God bless you all,
Bennette Sanner
Gary, We are sadden by Kathy’s passing. Even though we hadn’t seen each other in years, I know what a special person she was and thought about both of you many time. Our prayers are with you.
We will always remember Kathy’s warm smile and terrific sense of humor. Through all the health problems she went through, she always stayed positive even when we knew she had to be hurting inside. We will miss Kathy so much.
Although its been several years since Kathy and I worked together at HEHF, it was always a treat to run into her somewhere, exchange a 2-minute update, laugh and move on until the next time. The sense of loss felt by family and friends, and the wonderful memories we hold to our hearts is the greatest tribute we can give her.
Kathy was one of the most genuinely kind people I have ever known. As a good friend of my parents when I was growing up I saw her a lot when I was younger. Due to certain circumstances I didn’t see her much in more recent years. For this I am completely regretful. But I’ll never forget that despite the longtime distance between our families she and Gary sent me a dozen yellow roses on the morning of my high school graduation. It was a simple but memorable gesture I’ll always keep. I can’t clearly recall the last time I saw Kathy, but I’ll always wish I had disregarded barriers in an effort to connect even one last time with a woman who influenced me on the levels of kindness and compassion on this earth. She will long be a part of my heart, the endearing soul of a woman who only wanted the best for every person she ever came in contact with. Gary, you are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Lean on the good memories and the long period of time this angel got to be a part of your life. You are a very fortunate man for getting to share your life with such a sweetheart.
“Flowers of true friendship never fade.” anon.
We will miss our dear Kathy.

It has been over 25 years since I worked with Gary at Einan’s in Richland but we have kept in touch, mostly professionally, over the years. I always thought Gary and Kathy were the nicest couple and a great family. I know Gary and the family will miss her tremendously. I did not know Kathy all that well, but the fact that she was Gary’s wife had to make her a special person. All of us at Columbia Funeral Home in Seattle, especially myself, offer our sincerest condolences. Take care.
Dear Gary,
I remember Kathy mostly from our time together on the call committee. We were the two who did “hand work” during the meetings, to keep busy. I was impressed by her attitude of fun and optimism in the face of very difficult health problems and her willingness to deal with the problems, as they came up, in a matter-of-fact way. Her faith and confidence in the Lord were apparant. I’ll miss her laugh and presence at church. Please know that our prayers are with you and your family now and will continue to be there in the time to come. We are all blessed to have had Kathy in our lives.
In His peace, Val
Gary,
My memories of Kathy go way back to when she was the little girl who lived up the hill from me. She was always on the go and always had a ready smile. It was wonderful to briefly get reaquainted at one of our reunions. I greatly appreciated her warmth and sense of humor. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the family.
I worked at HEHF with Kathy for 5 years. She was always so upbeat; she will be missed by all who knew her.
Dear Mrs. Uran,
Graystone and I, and our family, would like to extend our deepest sorrow and sympathy regarding your mother’s passing.
Our thoughts, prayers, and wishes for comfort and peace are with you.
Sincerely,
Kathy Hill
Gary and Family,
As a part of my extended family at HEHF, Kathy will always hold a special place in my heart. Kathy made a difference in our company and gave us many wonderful memories to cherish always. Kathy will never be forgotten and will always remain loved by all. May God comfort you and give you strength.
Love,
Athena
My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Kathy was such a fun person, and she was so nice! Comfort in the knowledge that she touched so many lives, and that so many people thought so highly of her.
With deepest sympathy,
Teri Alvarez-Ziegler
Please accept my deepest sympathies on Kathy’s loss to her lengthy battle with cancer. She will always be a special person to everyone whose lives were lucky enough to be touched by her.
Kathy leaves warm and wonderful memories of her persistent, quiet optimism and smile that showed up no matter what was happening. She always encouraged a sense of hopefulness. I’m sure she would be pleased to know that the gifts she gave to others in life will continue through her memory for many years to come.
My thoughts and sympathies are with her family and close friends and the healing process ahead.
Dear Gary, I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers go with you and all of yours and for Kathleen.
Fr. Nico
Kathy was of those rare individuals who always exuded love, and always, always made you feel better about yourself. I had not seen Kathy for a couple of years and when I saw her pictures it reminded me of what a beautiful woman she was. When I was with her I sort of forgot about her outer beauty because her inner beauty and smiling spirit were such an enormous but gentle force. She was kind, funny, fun, intelligent, caring, rock steady, full of laughter, and very strong. And who could forget the greeting cards from Katie Jo to our cats?! If I had known her only one day my life would be better, but I have many years of wonderful memories to cherish forever. I will always remember our dinners out, wine tasting, movies, road trips and the infamous sailing trip around the San Juans. Kathy, Donna and I thought we were so funny when jumped up and surprised our husbands with our fake noses and glasses. We were goofy and everybody needs someone to be goofy with! Those who knew her will never forget Kathy or her beautiful smile. My love to you Gary, Pam, Chris, Bill, Shaunti, Abby and little Uran on-the-way. God bless you all.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I have not seen Kathy since I graduated high school with Pam, but my mother ran into her periodically and was always so glad to see her. She was such a delightful person and will be deeply missed.
My heart and prayers are with you.
Love, Jill
Gary, Pamela, and Chris,
I am so glad, and lucky, I had opportunities to spend some time with Kathy in the last 12 years. She was a lot of fun to be with and her kindness and thoughtful ways are not forgotten. I was saddened to hear of her passing and have kept all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
Always,
Victor Langlois
To Kathy’s family,
I send my deepest sympathy for your loss. Kathy was my closest friend in high school. We shared many good memories and fun times. She was such a wonderful person and loved her family so much. God bless you and cherish your memories of her.
My sincere sympathy,
Debbie Babb
I coached Kathy’s daughter Pam’s fast-pitch softball team where I met Gary and Kathy.
What impressed me the most was the avid support and constructive input they gave to this greenhorn in support of the kids…all of the kids.
They were more concerned with fun and fairplay than winning.
Kathy would start off saying she couldn’t get involved because she had so many other things taking up her time and then she would jump in with both feet.
She provided an excellent example of a team mother as well as keeping score on numerous occassions.
Those were the best years and some of the best people I have ever met.
My family’s condolenses and best wishes to Kathy’s family.
I worked with Kathy at HEHF many years ago. I was new to the area and she was very kind and always helpful. She was one of my best friends in Washington. I shall miss her.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Gary & his family at this very sad time. Gary, you were there for my family when we had to make arrangements for my dad, and I will never forget how caring you were during that difficult time in my life. Tomorrow you will be surrounded by loved ones who care for you & I know you will find comfort in that. I liked Kathy very much and only wish I could have gotten to know her better. Kathy is finally at peace, and may you, too find peace in the coming days.
Jan
she was a very fine lady…
We lived next door to Kathy and her family. So sorry to hear of her passing. Our love and sympathy goes out to you Gary and your family

Love,

Jan

All of us at Richland Lutheran will miss her! My condolances to the family.
I just wanted to let Gary know that he is in our prayers. I really enjoyed working with Kathy on GNMM projects and will miss her smile and easy laugh.
Some people come into our lives for a season and some leave footprints on our hearts forever. Kathy was one of those rare individuals who had a gift for sharing her love of life with all of us. When I think of her, I remember her wonderful smile and sense of humor as well as the courageous way she faced this most difficult battle of her life. The testimony of her constant faith remained evident always. How thankful we are for the blessing of her precious friendship!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Gary & your family now and always! We love you!

I have very fond memories of working and chatting with Kathy over the years. She was a special individual and I will miss her.
My condolence and prayers to the family during this difficult time. Kathy was a very person and I feel honored to have worked with her. I enjoyed her sense of humor and listening her talk about the Mariners. Kathy was always thinking about others, especially on her travels. She was always on the lookout for lighthouse photos to bring back to Cheryl & myself. Kathy, you will be greatly missed by many, but it’s a comfort to know that the Lord has called you home and you will be waiting for your family & friends in heaven. God Bless
