Daniel Dan Edward Raile
Daniel Dan Edward Raile was born May 23, 1954, in Richland, Washington. He passed away on October 27,2003, at his home in Bellevue, Washington.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Ned Raile. He graduated from Richland High School in 1972. During his high school years, Dan played in a band with his very close friends and spent hours on river water skiing with family and friends. He then received his BS in Engineering from WSU in 1977. After graduation from college, he worked for Boeing in Seattle, IBM in San Jose, California, and Vitro Engineering in Richland. He met Terry Houston and they were married in 1984. He then returned to Seattle to work for Boeing. Terry and Dan had a home built in Issaquah and in 1990 welcomed the birth of their son, Jace. Dan was an active parent and helped coach his son's flag football team and was a leader in the boy scouts. Dan and Jace shared the love for music and playing the keyboard. One of the highlights in Dan's life was being part of a band formed by other classmates and playing for his 30-year class reunion. Dan was extremely proud of earning his Professional Engineering certification in 1989. In 2000, Dan took a position as a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer with the Port of Seattle.
An avid Cougar fan, Dan loved attending WSU games every fall. His dream-come-true was being able to watch the Cougars play in the 1997 Rose Bowl against Michigan. He and his family also took many memorable trips to places such as Hawaii, Las Vegas, California, Arizona, and Lake Chelan. Dan had a keen memory, especially for recalling jokes in his conversations with others. He enjoyed attending Mariners and Sonic games, golfing, jet skiing, and concerts.
''Love is where the heart is.'' We love you, Dan.
Dan is survived by his son Jace age 13 and wife Terry of Issaquah; mother, Marcia Raile and sister Laurie Ron Williamson of Richland and his nieces Megan, Lindsay, and Melanie; brother, Rob Raile Shannon of Bellevue, Washington, and his nephews Davis and Nathan; aunts: Helen Harstad, Muriel Thompson, Helen Puich, and Anna Raile; cousins with whom he spent most of his childhood holidays: Brian Harstad, Kristi Wells, and Sanar Alixandyr; in-laws Jack and Sneezie Houston, sister-in-law Jackie Hanson and niece, Shylah Hanson, nephew D.J. Hanson all of Richland; sister-in-law Carole Rodriguez and niece Sandi Muns.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7, at Central United Protestant Church CUP on Stevens Drive in Richland at 1 :00 pm.
Donations can be made to the WSU Alumni Association or your favorite charity in his name.

God Bless You All.
With Deepest Sympathy
Sincerely Jim and Maddy Jeffs
I’m stunned and saddened to hear of Dan’s passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his loved ones. I’m so grateful to have had taken the time to thank him for playing at our 30th reunion. It was clear to me that night how much it had meant to him. It sure meant a lot to his classmates! God bless you, Dan.

Terry,
I was moved to tears to hear of your loss. You and I had a great conversation at Dan’s and my 25th reunion – and it seemed like only months until I saw you two again at the 30th! He was so happy to be playing in the band that night and told me all about his new ‘braces’. He looked 20 years younger than all of us! I hope you and Jace have many good days laughing and remembering him. I will fondly remember him.
Val
My thoughts and sympathies go to all of Dan’s family. His passing was much too sudden. He will certainly be missed by many but the fond memories we have of him will live on. I am especially grateful to have had the opportunity to once again hear his music and visit with both Dan and Terry at our 30th class reunion.

I was saddened to read of Dan’s death. I remember what a nice guy he was; he was so kind to my son Jordan Harstad. Terry and Jace will be in my prayers.
All our prayers and thoughts go out to Dan’s family. We knew him as a kind and gentle man who always had a kind word for everyone he met. Dan will be missed very much by all that knew him. We are all the better for having known him.
