Dolores Agnes Lutes

Dolores A. Lutes, 73, of Pasco, Washington, passed away on October 30, 2003, at her home.

She was born on September 3, 1930 in Nyssa, Oregon to John and Mary Koopman. She was raised in Vale, Oregon and also enjoyed time spent with her Grandparents in Nyssa and Silver City, Idaho. She worked as a clerk in a bank when she finished High School and also at the Malheur County Assessor office.

She married Gilbert Lutes in 1950. They lived in Vale. She stayed home with their children and helped to take care of their automotive repair business. They moved to Hermiston, Oregon in 1965. She worked at Marlette Homes in Hermiston for several years in their office. Dolores and Gilbert were divorced in 1970. She worked as an accountant for the Bechtel Company from 1975 to 1986 and worked on projects such as the Boardman Coal Fired Plant, The Number 2 Nuclear Reactor and aerospace projects at Vandenburg Air Force Base in California. She moved to Prosser, Washington and worked at the Richland Fred Meyer store until retiring in 1996.

Dolores enjoyed gardening. She practiced and was very knowledgeable about organic gardening years before it was popular. She enjoyed camping and took her children on camping trips throughout the Northwest. She was an avid reader. She stayed well informed about National and World events. She enjoyed discussing and debating the issues concerning our country and was always eager to contact her congressperson to discuss their vote on pending bills. She loved her family and during family gatherings would look in wonder at her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dolores is survived by her children: Louise Riley and her husband Steven of Hermiston, Oregon, Lois Wolf and her husband Dennis of Hermiston, Fred Lutes and his wife Tammie of Pasco and Ben Lutes of Hermiston; 12 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Einan’s Funeral Home on Saturday, November 8th, at 11:00 a.m.
