Ruth Elizabeth Cannon Mathiowetz

Ruth was born on December 26, 1925 to Westlake and Hazel Cannon in Adams, Nebraska. She grew up in Hood River, Oregon. She met Lawrence P. Mathiowetz while working in California for six months. They married May 7, 1948 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon. Ruth attended beauty school and eventually opened her own shop in Beaverton, Oregon where she and Larry lived. They moved to the Tri-Cites in 1960 and have made West Richland their home sine 1975. Ruth is survived by her husband Larry, three brothers Clarence, Billy and Rich Cannon, all of Hood River, Oregon. Ruth faced life with great grace and inspired those blessed to be part of her life.

A graveside service and interment will be held on Monday October 27 at 11:00am at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland. Visitation will be on Sunday October 26 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at Einan’s Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House, 2108 W. Entiat Ave, Kennewick, WA or a charity of your choice.

  • I’m so sorry to hear about Ruth’s passing. She was a very strong lady. I met her through “Meals on Wheels” I delivered hers to her for about a year.She ALWAYS had a smile for me or anyone who came in.I’ll never forget the courage she showed…God Bless Her !!!!

    Larry you done a wonderful job taking care of Ruth,a very devoted husband. We have known the Cannons for year’s and sending our love and prayer’s to all.
