  • Dear Judy,

I do not really know how to express the sadness I feel for you and of course for Kim and Kit. It is a loss that no words will lessen the pain of.

Dick was such a special man. He was always so thoughtful. Whenever the group was gathered at your house for fun Dick would quietly come and go, making sure there was plenty of ice or drinks. My kids, when they were young, spent so much time at your pool and Dick would always appear with warm dry towels and ice-cream cups for them. He always made us feel so welcome.

I know how he looked after you and took care of so many of your needs. You will miss him every day and that serves his memory well. It will never be enough but you shared so many years together and the joy of your grand children and so recently Aiden and Cayla. To see him coming down the hall with those girls always made me smile.

I don’t have much to offer you in the way of help, but know I am your friend and that you are in my thoughts. You have been there for me so many times over the years, please remember that I am available if you need anything.

    With my deepest sympathy,

    Jennie Martin

  • Judy, it has been a long time since our families have seen each other but fond memories of you and Dick still linger in our hearts. I still have the picture of Dick, Brian Fitzpatrick and I in our red bowling uniforms when we bowled together for the Uptown tavern. Those were such good times. Dick was a funny and caring friend that we will always miss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  • Dear Judy,

When we read of Dick’s passing, it felt like a light went out somewhere. It’s been a lot of years since we’ve seen you, but we’ve thought of you two often. This news was the first time that remembering Dick didn’t cause us to smile. It seems there was never a time that he didn’t have a joke or a wisecrack to fit the occasion. We read of the many accomplishments during his life, but one the greatest must be that he made people feel good.

Our heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

  • Dearest Judy, Over the years, our family has come to know yours through our combined effort to establish the exact link between Dick’s McNall and my Wood families and because of that, we have come to know the wonderful, caring and gentle man that Dick was, albeit from afar. He has left his mark with us and we are truly blessed for that. No words can explain the feelings of sadness at this time, but we trust that you will understand anyway. We love you.

  • I will miss Dick;s quick wit and playing in the “Hack Group” at SunWillows. I will just miss talking to him a couple three times a week to shoot the bull. Dick was a great person who really cared for his fellow man.

Colleen will miss him coming into Fred Meyer to get things for the twins and to discuss how he is doing on the daily game.

    We will truely miss him.

May God be with him and with his immediate and extended family in this time of grief.

  • If there was one man I could ever hope to be like, even half the man, would be my grandpa. Batman was my hero, but now I realize there was a man who did all he ever could for 65yrs, and I was too luckey to be realated to him. I just want him here with me. I miss my grandpa. I only hope I can man up to the name you left me

  • Dick, God broke the mold when he made you. I have never seen such a funny, caring, man. I never seen you mad, hateful to anyone. You will be missed by me and many many others.

Memories are so special, though you are not present you are here in my memories. I remember driving the bus to Redox and you and Randy B giving me a bad time all the out and in.

    Take care friend.

  • Judy, I’m so sorry to hear about Dick’s passing away. We go back to the late 50’s when he was playing fast-pitched softball for the VFW. Also many years thereafter of golfing and bowling with him. He helped me tremendously on bowling techniques and we had a lot of fun bowling in the same leagues together.
