From Pasco, WA, US | Born in Toppenish, WA
Ron A. Nelson
Ronald Allen Nelson went to be with Our Father in Heaven on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at the age of fifty.
Born in Toppenish on November 7, 1953, Ron spent his childhood in Toppenish and Othello. As a child, he loved tractors...a love he never outgrew! Ron graduated from Othello High School in 1972 and then moved to the Satus area southeast of Toppenish to farm with his Uncle Doyle. In July 1982, he married the love of his life, Sara Barnard Nelson. They made their home in the Tri-Cities and raised three wonderful children.
Ron was involved in many areas of agriculture throughout his life, working as a farmer, a farm manager and as a field and sales representative. He was a man known for a quick wit, infectious smile and easy-going manner. Ron always had a kind, friendly word and would literally give you the shirt off his back as needed. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. He touched and helped change others' lives in simple, selfless ways that will not be forgotten.
Ron is survived by his wife, Sara, three children, Ryan, Brent and Sally Nelson of Pasco; mother, Ruth Ipson of Eugene; in-laws, Eric and Donna Barnard of Prosser; siblings, Sheryl and Bruce Lynch and family of Othello, Nancy Brennan and family of Eugene, Larry and Susie Nelson and family of Priest Lake, Idaho, Mike Nelson's family of Ephrata; sister-in-law, Kari Watson and family of Prosser; brother-in-law, Tim and Debbie Barnard of Newman Lake; many very close cousins, including Doug Nelson of Stevens Point, WI, Wes Nelson of Yakima, and Rodney Nelson of Richland; as well as extended family and countless friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Earl Nelson.
A celebration of Ron's life will be held Saturday, January 10th at 3:00 p.m. at Central United Protestant Church in Richland, an informal dinner will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Washington State Potato Foundation Scholarship Fund in Ron's memory.
We miss him from the good old days at the Satus Store. He was a joy to be around, and brightend up everyday you saw him. We are sorry to hear of the loss.
To Sara and family we were sad to read of your great loss. Our most heart felt prayers go out to all of you. Sara, you and Ron were two people that we wished we could of kept in contact with. Maybe it was because my birthday is November 6, 1953 and birthplace was Toppenish. Ron and I camped out together 50 years ago. We were in the hospital together.
You two were always welcome at our home and around our fire anytime. I have a note I keep in my office and it brings some kind of closure for me at times like these along with some peace of mind that God has a plan. I will send it to you with all of our love and prayers for peace and to help bring your smile back.
I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day. To laugh, to love, to work of play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at close of day. If my parting has left a void. Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I’ve savored much. Good friends, good times a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all to brief. Don’t lenghten it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wanted me now; He set me free.
May your sorrows be lifted with great eagle wings, And carried to that faraway place where sorrows are changed to peace; And may the peace return to you, and live where sorrows used to be.
Heaven is a better place right now with Ron there.
If you are ever in our area our door is always open for you.

Sara and family,
Ron was the sweetest guy I knew. His welcoming smile always made a person feel really special . Heaven is getting an awesome addition. If there is anything we can do to help, please call… anytime.
Love, Alli and George
I fondly remember Ron hanging out with the Nelson boys during the summers on the Satus. Doug was my best friend in High School and he spoke so highly of Ron.
May God Bless your family now and always.
