Todd B. Smith
07/29/1970 — 03/26/2004
From Kennewick, WA, US | Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho
Todd B. Smith
Todd B Smith, 33, a resident of the Tri-Cities area since 1990, passed away after an 18 month fight with Leukemia on Friday, March 26, 2004 at home with his family and friends.
Todd's life began on July 29, 1970 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Todd graduated from Davis High School in Yakima, Washington in 1988 and then graduated from Columbia Basin Community College in 1991 with an Associated Applied Science degree in Nuclear Technology. Before his illness, Todd was employed by Energy Northwest formerly known as WPPSS for 11 years as a respected Health Physics Technician.
Todd and his family are members of the Central United Protestant Church in Richland, Washington. Even before he was diagnosed with Leukemia, Todd was an active supporter for the fight against cancer donating his time to the Annual ''Relay for Life'' Cancer Walk-A-Thon.
Todd was a loving family man who put his family above all else. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to boat, wakeboard and camp with his family and friends.
Todd is survived by his wife Christine, his three sons Cory 11, Jake 8 and Cameron 13 months; his parents Gary and Jargene Olels, and his brother and sister-in-law Perry and Stephanie Smith, as well as an extensive list of family and friends.
Todd will be missed by all that knew and loved him, for he was a truly special person.
It's amazing what a younger brother can show an older brother in regards to what life is all about; family, mends and unconditional love even when your journey in life ends before its time.
Todd was life, he lived life, and those who knew him felt that. His friendship was truly valuable to anyone that shared it. Todd's family is a testimony of the life he cherished. His fight with cancer was a fight for the life he held so dear. Being surrounded by those who loved him made him want to live life to the fullest. Todd fought not just to live, but to contribute to the life he loved; and to those that loved him.
He will be truly missed not only as a gentle spirit but also as an inspiring father, a devoted son and a heaven sent soul mate.
Visitation will be held on Monday March 29 at Einans Funeral Home from 5pm-8pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 30 at Central United Protestant Church at 1:00pm followed by a graveside at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland, WA.
Donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 1001 4th Ave. Plazo, Ste. 3714, Seattle, WA 98154 or to the Tri-City Cancer Center, 7350 W. Deschutes Ave., Kennewick, WA 99336.
Todd was always a caring and outgoing coworker who I will miss very much. I appreciated his kindness and concern for others. Todd was a good person who you enjoyed being around at work. I can never remember Todd being an unkind person. He was life and lived it to its fullest. We all will miss Todd very much. I am very sad to see him go to heaven so early in life. My prayers are with him and his family. God Bless his soul. Sid Albano

Dear Chrissy and boys,
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to each of you with the loss of your sweet husband and dad. I met Todd when he came back through the system for unescorted access to the plant, last August. I later followed his progress thru Yvette Moore in his hard fought battle against cancer. May his undying love, along with God’s love and compassion, continue to give you strength and comfort in the days to come.
My sincere condolences to all of your family,
Alana Vermeulen
Christine, though I never got to meet Todd, I feel I have come to know him through your inspiring emails that Kimberly would forward to me. I wish you peace and love in the coming days and hope you will find much comfort in your memories of the exceptional journey you and Todd have been through. God bless you. You are an incredible woman!
I was one of Todd’s nurses in Seattle as he was going through his bone marrow transplant. I admitted him the day he started therapy and was awestruck at the hope and positive attitudes he and his wife shared. They were a blessing to me and taught me many things about the human aspect of battling cancer. They amazed me every day with their strength and willingness to do whatever it took to get better. I feel blessed to have been a part of Todd’s life even though it was for those short months near the end. His caring nature will be forever imprinted in my mind. Todd and his family are the reason I love my job! Thank you for taking me in and treating me like family. I will miss Todd very much.
Prayed for you to survive this crappy disease I guess God had a different plan for you. I worked with Todd in 94-95 @ WPPSS. He had a beautiful smile and a happy heart and was nice to work with. God Bless his Family
My thoughts and prayers are with the wonderful family Todd has left behind. You will not be forgotten even though Todd is no longer with us. However, he will always live on in our memories and in his children.
Although Todd worked in the same department I work, I never really had the opportunity to really get to know him personally. Throughout the last several months of Todd’s life, I learned much about Todd and the inner strength that he possessed through Chrissy’s e-mails. I wish I could have known him better.
Chrissy, I have come to love and admire you so much for the strength and determination you have demonstrated this past year and a half. Todd was so blessed to have had you by his side. You are far more mature than your young years.
I will continually pray for you and the boys, and wish God’s greatest blessings upon you all.
Hold on, be true and faithful to God. He will see you though all of life’s storms.
God bless and keep you.
Bonnie Crow
First off I would like to exspress my deepest sympathies to the family. Todd was a person we will never forget. He was a treasure to have known.
I would like to share some stories about my time with Todd.
On 09/11 he was our shift lead and that night we was talking about the stock market and the future. I have this paper that we signed and a bet was on as what would happen to the market. I have to say that Todd was right. He was a wiz about the stock market.
Another time, he was in on a practical joke that was played on me about a $20,000 scratch ticket. The ticket was fake and of course Todd laughed and laughed about the ticket, him being the jokester that he was he identified with the pleasure of teasing. He had such a great sense of humor.
I will truly miss him. Many great thoughts of him will always cherish my heart.
Angie Hall
All our love and sympathy, Elaine and Mike
