Ruth Catherine Kirk

Ruth Kirk passed away peacefully at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Washington, on Wednesday morning, October 6, 2004, at age 85. She was born April 28, 1919 in her parents, Maynard and Elsie Repp’s home at Messex, Colorado.

Visitation will be at Einan’s Funeral Home from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday,October 9,2004 at Southside United Protestant Church, 517 Jadwin Ave., Richland, WA where she was a lifelong member. Gravesite services will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Ruth was a student at Parks Business College in Denver, Colorado when she married Wilson Kirk on November 13, 1938. In 1944, they moved to Richland, Washington with their two daughters and have lived in Richland for 60 years. Ruth and Will shared a second residence in Lincoln City, Oregon for 12 years.

She worked for Yakima Federal Savings and Loan for five years. Several years later she joined Dr. Corrado's office staff and served as office manager-bookkeeper for more than 17 years. She retired in April 1980.

Ruth had a deep love for golf and was thrilled with her two holes-in-one. Ruth was an active member at the Tri-City Country Club for more than 30 years and 12 years at Salishan Golf Club in Oregon. She enjoyed playing in club tournaments with her friends and received numerous trophies and awards.

In addition to her golf, Ruth loved to cook. She spent many hours preparing gourmet meals for her family and friends.

Ruth was a loving, nurturing, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and soon to be great, great-grandmother. She enjoyed reminiscing her childhood with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always left a lasting impression on her friends she touched.

Ruth is survived by her husband of almost 66 years, Wilson Kirk; two daughters of Richland, Washington, Roberta Myers son-in-law John B. Myers and Bonnie Kirk formerly son-in-law Robert Sandall of West Palm Beach, Florida; three grandchildren, Diana Mross of Richland, Washington, Joellyn Myers of Redmond, Washington, and John W. Myers wife Krista of Medford, Oregon; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Ben Mross, and one sister, Lois Yates of Thousand Oaks, California. Her parents preceded her in death.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Johnson Adult Family Home in Richland, and the staff of the Adult Day Care Center in Kennewick for their excellent and kind care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to an Association of your choice.
