Carlie Ann Van Leuven

Carlie Ann Van Leuven, 73, of Kennewick, died Monday, November 1, 2004, at the Life Care Center of Kennewick.

Carlie was born November 30, 1930, in Bench-Lago, Idaho and was raised in rural S. E. Idaho in a farming and agricultural community. She spent her early years with the family and farm life. She graduated from high school in Grace, Idaho.

She spent her working time cooking for hired men, living on the ranch property and caring for farm animals. She went to nursing school in Logan, Utah, but became ill during her second year of training and had to drop out.

Carlie and Myles Van Leuven were married in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on October 12, 1951. Carlie and Myles moved to the U. S. Army base at Fort Bliss, Texas. She was a homemaker whose proudest moments were the births of her children.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many church organizations, worked in musical capacities, and in many church programs, she was choir director.

Carlie was bound to her earthly home by the wheels of her chair. She left her bed and her chair to gain a beautiful body, free of pain. She is now singing and dancing, running and being active. She is now with her Dad and Mom in the presence of her celestial home.

Carlie shall run and not be weary, and walk and not be faint D.C. 89-20 … they shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall renew their strength. Isaiah 40-31.

Carlie is survived by her husband, Myles; sons, Kirk and Elizabeth 7 grandchildren, Martin and JoAnne 4 grandchildren, and Zane; daughters, Richelle 5 grandchildren, Kaelin and Frank Nieto 2 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Don W. Clegg.
