David Lee Carter
EINANS FUNERAL HOME David Lee Carter, 48, of West Richland, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 30, 2004. He was born August 20, 1956, in Pasco, WA and moved to Richland in 1958.
He worked many years at Western Sintering and as an iron worker for Local 14. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
David grew up in Richland, WA. He graduated from Richland High School in 1975. He later graduated from Columbia Basin College. He loved welding and working with wood carving.
He met the love of his life, Debbie Fish, while in high school. They were married for over 25 years. Although the marriage ended in divorce, she remained with him through many hard years of schizophrenia.
David had a huge and loving heart. He looked for goodness in everyone. He loved spending his day mowing lawns, doing odd jobs, working wood carving projects, and riding the Ben Franklin buses talking to people.
David never had any children but loved being an uncle. One of Davids great talents was spending time with Devin and Bryson. He played airplane, piggyback rides, watching videos, and had long conversations that only a terrific uncle could have with a 4 year old and a 6 year old.
David adored his mother. He spent as much time as possible with her. He would do everything he could think of to make her happy. His mother was his life. One of Davids special outings was when he took his mother to Korys wedding reception after her marriage in the Spokane LDS temple.
David had many friends who we would like to thank. All those he did yard jobs for, his Reese Vanilla Bean Ice Cream friend and the wood carving man.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Carter, Richland, WA; brother, Roy Carter and wife, Vicki, Whitstran, WA; sisters, Rose Marie Brito and husband, Mike, Deer Park, WA, Linda Thomas, West Jordan, UT; Shirley Alger and husband, Bruce, Richland, WA; ex-wife and best friend, Debbie Fish; in-laws, Thomas and Mona Fish; and brother-in-law, Mike and wife, Debbie Fish. He had many nieces and nephews who he enjoyed. He was especially close to his niece, Kory, nephew, Matthew Fish, and nephews, Devin and Bryson Alger.
David was preceded in death by his father Allen Blake Carter, and infant sister Phyllis Carter.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2004, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Thayer Chapel, 1720 Thayer Dr. Richland, WA.
Contributions in Davids memory may be sent to Einans Funeral Home, PO Box 90, Richland, WA 99352 to help offset service expenses.
Dave was a very nice person who came in to buy his bus passes every month at Ben Franklin Transit. He always had a smile on his face and brought joy to everyone he met. He rode our buses a lot and never met a stranger. He was always friendly to everyone. He will truly be missed! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!
Dave was one of the greatest people we have ever had the privellage to know. We will truly miss him and count our blessings that he was part of our lives. We take comfort in knowing he has found peace in the hands of the Lord.
I was saddened to have read about

I am a coach operator for Ben Franklin Transit. I first met David many months ago when he first began riding our busses.I never saw David without a smile, and he freely gave it to everyone he met.
Everyone and everything excited and interested him. It was apparent that David had a zest for life that few posess. He would often board my bus with boxes, bundles, or materials to complete one of his many creations. He was never idle, and his ideas flowed from his mind continually. I was saddened to read of the circumstanses of his passing, and I will miss him on route. My sincere sympathies to his family and friends.

I worked several years with David at Western Sintering. When I first started work there, David and I worked side by side. He would always help me if I had a question or problem. David became my friend and was kind to me. He was always talking about his wife Debbie. I feel very fortunate to have known David and I will always remember him and miss him.
